We've been paying that for over a year in Canada. Its currently sitting at $1.33 per litre. Approx 5.00 U.S. gallon. Its not that bad . There's talk of 1.99 per litre by years end . Get use to it .

Although the gas prices are hitting everyone hard (especially here in the US where everything so spread out) I think it ultimately is a good thing for this planet for us to go through this pain. It can only lead to more efficient vehicles and less carbon emissions as the demand slows down due to the high prices and people start to realize that an H2 in the garage maybe isn't the best choice for taking Jr to school.

If prices keep rising, it may be prudent to try to guard against fuel theft.

We in North America have been spoiled for decades. Higher gas prices might finally make people think twice about buying an 8 cylinder gas guzzler or a car with a ridiculous amount of horsepower.

Actually, I saw a comparison the other day that indicated Americans have not been getting a break. They compared US gas prices to European prices and they were very similar except the European price included about 60% tax while ours was about 15%. The actual price of the gas was very similar. Point being, we just pay our taxes in a different way than the Europeans and we do not have as many social programs.
