get a car and visit washington slagbaai park! Wayaka II in the park was our favourite snorkel spot last year, it has a very small, very romantic sandy beach!

If you are to go to the park, get there early! Although the park closes at 5, the rangers will stop you from entering and exploring after 3PM.

From a cruise ship I would rent a car and tour the island and stop and snorkel , then have a late lunch along the water and sunset at Karl's. I love touring the park but it is a long rough day and touring in a air conditioned car is much more gentle. There are plenty of spots you can just jump in and see lots of fish and coral. See the thread on snorkeling.

Rent a car and head south - see Pink Beach, the south lighthouse, the Cargill salt operation/salt pans (which are sometimes flamingo pink :-), up the east side to Sorobon (lunch at Jibe City - good sandwiches - and a snorkel out by the reef:-), a look at the fishing boats, back to the main road and into town. Easily a 4 hour trip. Enjoy!

Thanks a lot for all the wonderfull suggestions - I see best thing to do is to rent a car! Perhaps I can convince two or three people on the ship to join me! (same for the next stop of the cruise - Curacao)...
