This first week in March we were watched by an osprey while snorkeling at Karparta. He stayed on land and followed us as we snorkeled south.

Oo, cool! Aren't they beautiful creatures?

When we were in Bonaire back in October, we had one of the oriole-type birds (prichiki?) perch on the outside mirrors of our rental truck at Nukove while we lugged gear around. He seemed to be admiring his reflection! He was completely happy to ignore us, and let us come very close before he got annoyed and hopped up into the tree we had parked under. I was almost as fascinated by him as I was by the undersea critters...

This isn't about Bonaire but put here for those who enjoy watching Ospreys. The link is to a camera on Ann Phelan's Cape Cod, maintained by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. It shows, in near real motion (at least on my cable modem connection), a mother osprey now sitting two eggs. Should be a wonder as the chicks hatch and grow!

An osprey chick has hatched at the WHOI osprey nest at http://128.128.32.108/view/view.shtml

I don't see any sign of the second egg.
