Hello, goodmorning everybody.
I feel terrible this morning, so nervous and I have a "ball" in my throat, I can't swallow. Jean Paul's is ready to leave tomorrow, everything is nearly packed and I did insit he packs some masks gloves and alcool in his cabin bagage. I think he is quite aware of the risks and promiced he will wear them in the both Singapore Airlines planes and during his transit in Singapore.
Olaf, are you sharing the morning coffee with me ?

Hello, Martine: I will share some bedtime cocoa with you.... it is 1:40 a.m. here... I've been wasting time playing cubis...
Well, I would like to offer some words of comfort regarding Jean Paul's absence.... trust that he will be fine and return in good health. The situation should be improving by now, or very soon. So many brilliant people working on the problem, worldwide. Restez calme.

Sounds good Martine!I am sure that if your husband takes all the precautions when flying, he should come back in good health. A geologist from work just came back from China, did the 10 quarantine and is fine. But still, I would worry too.
I get my car back today, it is finally fixed, I miss driving my car:-).

Thanks for your nice words. I just wish Jean Paul won't be in quarantine in Sydney...and back here. I am sure he will take care, and I'll regularly have news via Internet.
Have a nice day.

I know Carol, as working for airlines, I know how the things are. I truly can say it is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to fully desinfect a plane just by cleaning the tables and vacuuming. The plane has to be isolated and sprayed all inside all door closed and kept minimum five hours closed. Some people do not know they are infected, travel, sneeze on the seats covers around, and next passenger sitting there may be contimined, and I can tell you, as seing everyday, this is never done, except when there is a true suspected case detected during the flight. That's why we wear our masks and gloves, do not touch anything on board and some of us totally refuse to get on board to present the load sheet to the captain. I don't think it is paranoia, just elementary precautions. Jean Paul knows about this, and I know he will be quite aware. Sorry, Jake, this is not on the topic, but I had to say, may help you too :o)

I spent some time going through the SARS update on the Center for Disease Control site, Martine, just to see what the latest info is. The basic theme I took away from that is that SARS is serious enough that you want to take the basic precautions against getting it, but not to get panicky about it. They believe droplets in the air, rather than contamination of surfaces may be the main method of transmission. So wearing masks on planes and when you are in small enclosed spaces with people that might be infected is recommended, and good hygiene, just in case they are wrong about getting it off contaminated surfaces.

Finally--to keep this post on the reefcam subject--a diver.

And to finish off on SARS, Martine, they still don't understand why its severity is so variable. No deaths in the 115 cases in the US, and I've heard the 4 cases here in Massachusetts have not even been hospitalized. Maybe genetic, maybe luck. But the odds really are on Jean Paul's side with minimal precautions.

The final diver.
