Ahh, less than 24 hours until my plane departs from chilly Chicago. I get to show my dive buddy around Bonaire as I am an expert of 1 previous recent trip. :-)

The temp is around 10 degrees here with snow on the ground...this trip is going to be awesome! I can't wait....

I am not exactly sure where it is Small Wall I think...I have heard of stories of bribing Jake with Krispy Kremes for easy access to this site.

We plan on hitting multiple sites so just maybe we could stop by for a peak.

It really helps to come from crappy weather...its just that more satisfying...something Angela and I can relate too. If it was the summer it would be nice to go, but not AS nice. I guess thats why they call it the HIGH season. :-)

Okay, you guys, I am now officially completely suffering from Post-Bonaire Depression here in below zero Green Bay. I seem to be in one of two states--Pre-Bonaire Syndrome or Post-Bonaire Depression! And the Depression lasts much, much longer. Jason, you could bribe ME with Krispy Kremes and I'd meet you in Bonaire.

Bookie

Actually Bookie, wouldnt it be the other way around...you could bribe ME with Krispy Kremes and I'll meet you down there. :-)

I quit posted to this board because it was too much for me too handle...now that I will be on a plane heading there in about 16 hours and counting I can talk about it without twitching.

Be in Bonaire March 12th. Yeah, departing Chicago also.
Who needs the Krispy Kremes?
Would gladly provide an "HONORARIUM" for access to the Web Cam at Small Wall. Did'nt make it to the cam last year.
I felt so unfullfilled.

Everybody going to the reef cam, be sure to give us your "colors" so we can be on the look out. They are calling for snow, sleet AND freezing rain here tonite and tomorrow. Ughhh....

A word to the unknowing......

If you bring Krispy Kremes to Bonaire, you don't actually need directions to Jake's house.

He will seek YOU out!! His nose is finely tuned to the tantlizing aroma of KKs. Like a fly zeroing in on some donkey poop, Jake WILL find the KKs.......

Try dunking them in an Amstel Bright. It riuns the beer, but helps the taste of the Kremes.

Enjoy and enjoy!!

-dave.

Recipe from the Tri-City Herald:

Erwtensoep (Dutch Pea Soup)

2 cups split green peas
3 quarts cold water
1 pig's foot
1 pig's ear (optional)
4 slices thick-cut bacon, cut into squares
4 frankfurters (use your favorite sausage)
1 pound potatoes
1 celeriac, diced
1 cup celery, chopped
2 leeks, well washed and chopped
2 onions

Wash the peas, soak them for 12 hours (unless you use quick cooking peas), and boil gently in the water they were soaked in
for at least 2 hours. Cook in this liquid the pig's foot, ear and bacon for at least 1 hour. Add the sliced potatoes, salt, celeriac,
leeks and celery; cook until everything tests done and the soup is smooth and thick. Add the sausage during the last 10 minutes.
The longer the soup simmers, the better the flavor. Three hours is usual. The soup thickens - so much it can almost be cut - as it
cools.

Jane,

Linda tells me we have to (believe it or not) refuse Krispy Kremes as a bribe (she and I are on a diet :-( ), however nice big chewy bagels are a welcome bribe substitute :-)

OK, no problem! We have a GREAT bagel shop in town...I'll have them throw in some of their specialties too!

Will you freeze them? If so, we'll bring a couple dozen.

As for dive access...is there a day/time that works best for you??
