Good morning all !
Hem, I think everybody is still sleeping on the other side of the ocean. We woke up with a bright sun this morning even if it is a bit chilly. I am just waiting for the Dutch and British teams to share a cup of coffee with me.

Good morning, all! Well, as predicted, we got about two feet of snow and a lot of blowing and drifting along the way. Schools were closed and I didn't have to come to work (which was a good thing because I'm still not sure where my drieveway is!). Makes me long for the warm, sunny weather even more!

Apparently more of our mooring line shredded - I ended up remove one of the two lines entirely - about 15 feet worth. The other has been knotted in the hopes of providing longer endurance. As long as no big boats tie off on our private mooring, that is...

Hi, morning Cynde,
Are you just getting up ?
I have been told that barracudas are very tasty but eating them could be dangerous for the health. They seem ( especially the old ones ) to carry a kind of amoeba they transmit to human. Anyone knows more about ?

Martine - water was chilly (for me) - 26.1 celsius.

As far as barracudas go - if caught in waters near large human populations (e.g. Florida), there's a high risk of contracting Ciguatera - a nasty disease. The barracuda caught around Bonaire and eaten here do not carry the disease because the waters around here are quite clean.

See http://www.scuba-doc.com/cig.htm

Goooood morning ev'rybody!

After my lurking for a few days (too busy to type anything) I thought I'd just drop a line or two on this sunny humpday...

Marc and I are doing great. I had a great goat stew at the BT dinner yesterday evening while Marc was 'swinging his butt off up in the Banana Tree'. Well, he got a massive tip yesterday (come to think of it, it must've been about 50%) because he's doing a great job. So he should not complain ;-)... But I don't think this will become his career... :-)

I'm at work now, and in between the busy busy busy stuff, I'm writing this. My employer is in an important meeting somewhere else so I thought I'd drop a line (not that it would stop me if he was sitting 10 yards away from me, I have my own little office).

Last Sunday I went to the beach with my sister. We just stayed on the beach, because the water was too cold... No, really, I'm *not* kidding! And we got up and left early because the sun wouldn't shine continuously either; we got cold!!

And, surprise, surprise! Saturday I had my first discover SCUBA dive. Unfortunately Marc couldn't join the gang because he had to work :-( But it was great. I think I'm going to do a certification course soon. I hope Marc will start diving soon as well... I'm going to consider buying a dry suit, it's way too cold in the water ;-)...

Okay, leaving it at this. It's almost lunch time. See you guys later!

Kitty

Hi Marisa, bad luck triste
From where are you supposed to leave ? Why don't you try the french caribbeans, Martinique or Guadeloupe. Air France ( partner with Delta ) serves both islands from Miami. Nice dives overthere. That's all what I can say to help, I never went to other places in Caribbeans, except Cuba.

Isn't that a view in the direction of the oil refinery? Could it be one of their carrier ships? Sure does look like a sub though. When we were there last year, the whole time, they had a ship similiar to this one moored off the refinery. May have been taller though (looked like a taller sub from a distance). Otherwise, what would a sub be doing in Bonaire? Then again, if I were a criminal, I know where I would at least try to run to- Paradise!

Angela, the refinery is located just behind the diving boat. Our "submarine" seems to pass between the shore and Klein, and I think bigger ship never do that, but I might be wrong.

It was a barge that left from the Curoil terminal located near the water plant. Much smaller than the tankers that hitch up at the salt pier or the oil transshipment terminal.

The only other big ships I've seen between Klein and us are the Dutch Navy, US Coast Guard, and the harbor tugs. The tankers are usually only visible on the horizon. Cruise ships come in south of Klein and leave the same way.

Nice dinner, thanks kevin. How strange how animated the cams are this afternoon when it was so slow this morning. It's rather late here now, I think I won't stay too long, and Rameses, my cat is "kindly" reminding me he is waiting for his supper.

I know it is late, but I just wanted to pop in and say Hi to everyone. Sorry I haven't been here much lately, but I am getting more and more tired from the daily hospital visits. Emma is doing fine, and she is still in high spirits. She had the rest of her hair cut off today, and I bought her a nice hat to wear. Thanks for posting all the nice pics. Annie B.

Son-of-a-gun! It worked! First time, too! Good directions back there on 7/9/2000, found in "Archives: Archives - Prior to 2001: Divers Galore" in case anyone else needs easy to follow instructions.

Hi all! Woah, what a day! I didn't get a chance to post this morning (or yesterday, even)... busy with classes & such. I didn't even get to watch the cams today... but my capture program caught the pics of Jake though. Good job, Mr. Jake! :-)

I looked at your web-site, Kitty. Beautiful pics of the island!

Anita, I'm in the Pacific NW United States. I've got this end of the map covered! :-) Though, I'm sure there's posters from all over the west coast.

Welcome to the group, Dan! Good to have another Dan around! :D

Feeling better yet, Eileen? I hope so! :-)

HAHA! I just looked at yesterday's posts... nice bubble hair, Jake ;)

Yikes! it's almost 7:30! I'd better go study for that Multi-Vector Calculus exam tomorow *shudder*

So, here I am, closing down the day (2/5). Just in time for Martine to open the day (2/6). She should be signing in in about two hours or maybe a little less.
Good morning, Martine!
And good night to all of us Pacific Northwesterns, and further Northerns.
