Good morning all! I've been back from Bonaire since last Thursday, and BOY do I have PBD!

The third time was the charm, no illnesses, just lots of diving!

I'll post a trip report once I get my pictures organized.

In the meantime, I wish I was here...

Igor - I think you're dreaming (or under the influence of... well, never mind) :). It looks to me like the same fish from your previous post, only up close and washed out in the light.

Igor-
Don't worry about it, I once posted a pic that I thought was a turtle also... turned out to be two small fish (one in front of the other) in such a manner as to actully look like a turtle. Of course, I saw the pic in the wee hours of the morning and I hadn't gone to sleep the night before - may explain a lot.

mornin all...clint, great clip! Igor, it is called web cam hallucination...we look so hard sometimes and dream of things we want to see, and then our mind convinces us that we actually see it! a turtle did come across the cams a couple of years ago (linda said they could see it on the live feed)...to this day, i still can't see it in the picture...but then again, i was never good at ink blot tests! maybe someone remembers where it is in the dusty archives!

I take it by the way u guys are talking. Turtles must b a bit scarce down around Bon Aire.

I think it was this one from June 1, 2001.

Michael your shot of 4/27/00 sure looks like a turtle to me.

Bobby, I don't think they're scarce as they don't show up in front of the reef cam very often. That's twice now in almost three years. I can't remember the last dive report I read where they did not see turtles while diving or snorkling.

Thanks, Cecil, I thought it a bit strange.

I don't know that they're all that uncommon - we've seen them on both our trips, however a friend just got back and didn't see any.

Here's one I 'caught' down on the south end of the island - I think it was around Angel City, but I can't recall for sure.

turtle

I'm gonna' have to look a lot longer at the one from June, Cecil. Looks more like a big hermit crab to me :)

Seeing turtles or certain other critters seems to be the luck of the draw. Last trip I saw 6-8 turtles at different times and places. The previous trip I saw none, but saw lots of seahorses and a few frogfish, and have only seen Ol' Blue once in a dozen times of trying.

Renee, I got back last Thursday, too. PBD hits fast when you return to a car at the airport covered in two inches of ice. I am starting to get over it today. I just booked a trip to Cozumel over New Years. Not Bonaire, but it will have to do for now.

I've spend all my days off 4 (oops for) this year...

ok dr. doolittle, i no longer feel sorry for you. you are going to coz for new year's? i hope that your car is in the outer most parking lot, you have to walk to it with ALL of your dive gear in tow (in a t-shirt and shorts), and that you have 10 FEET OF SNOW on your car in the parking lot...phhttt....oh, and that your ice scraper is nowwhere to be found so you have to use your bare hands and fingers to get it off:)

cecil...we have the same b-day (hint hint hint) so we must have been separated at birth, only a few years apart:)

Mike hope you have fun in Cozamel. We just spent a week there. If not for getting sick, the touristo atmosphere and the all inclusive hotel plan it was a great time, and all for what we would pay for air to Bonaire. Positives I did get to see the Pyramids and do some diving. They had these cool little underwater self contained scooters nondivers could tour the reef with, what a hoot. Worth going once but really not my kind of place.

Here I am just trying to nurse myself through PBD and suddenly I am vicously attacked. Blue, the only reason I brought this up was to try to help Renee (a fellow PBD sufferer) and to let the rest of you know just in case you wanted to join us. Like Clint said, it is an economical trip for a fast get away.

ok dr. d...i shall cut you no slack:) do you really think that telling renee that you are going diving to coz for new year's will make her feel better?:) where is that woody when you need him? i bet he will be really bad this time when you are gone...rusty will have to teach him how to download files to your computer whilst you are away having fun:)

I figured telling Renee about my trip to Cozumel would help her PBD. It sure helped mine. h

Mike,

Thanks for the moral support! Have you been to Cozumel before?

I have been there for a day trip on the ferry from Cancun. Only did two dives. I didn't really pick the location. Two of my friends here in town called me Tuesday and said they were going. The two people I was diving with in Bonaire last week said they were ready to go again and I just need two more dives hit 100 dives for the year so I figured, "Let's Go!" Why unpack all that scuba gear? I mean, how molding can it get in three weeks?
