We want to thank Jake and Dan for creating the Bonaire Webcams. A fantastic internet tool. It's still the best kept secret in Bonaire though! We had so much fun at the Street Cam and Reef Cams on our recent trip in Oct/02. My senior citizen parents back in Canada were thrilled to get pictures of us even before we got out of the water. Then they e-mailed the pictures to everyone they know. It was a quite a surface swim to the Reef Cam but never too challenging for a Canadian. I'll keep subscribing so keep up the great work. Look forward to returning in January/04 (when it's -40F in Canada). Lin and Lorraine

I took that to mean October, 2002, Michael - so you may need to search through 29 more days!

My husband and I are going to Bonaire for the first time in January ... we're counting the days! I really enjoy the webcams and was wondering which mountains or hills are visible in the distance on the North Beach camera. Is Brindisi one of them? I also wondered if the mountains of Venezuela are visible from the southern shores of Bonaire.

P.J./J.W. - Have a great time on the island... we've been there twice and loved every minute of it. The mountain/hill in the background is Mt. Brandaris - the highest point on the island. Someone on the island needs to help me out here, but I think the top is around 780' above sea level. It's a great hike up to the top if you're into that sort of thing. As for the mountains of Venezuela, they aren't visible from the southern end of the island, but I've heard that you can see them from the top of Brandaris if it's a particularly clear day with little humidity in the air. We couldn't see them when we were on top, but you may have better luck.

Those are part of Bonaire. You wouldn't see Venezuela from the north beach cam, as it faces north.

So, what on earth were you doing up before the crack of dawn, Michael! Are you mad????

Thanks, Michael, for the info on Mt. Brandaris. Looks like it would be worth the hike, especially as it might be possible to see Venezuela from the top. As for the other posting -- I am aware that the North Beach Cam faces north -- that's why I asked if Venezuela was visible from the SOUTH shores of the island!
