What was the occasion for the parade?

the balloon (blast in papiamentu) parade was the official Karnaval kickoff .. this week end is the kid's Karnaval and next weekend for the adults.

The parade was a "jump-up"-a pre-Karnaval (Mardi Gras) celebration. Today, 3pm-ish Bonaire time will be the children's karnaval parade down main street. IF it stops freaking raining!

Hi, I just checked the downtown webcam and I have never seen so many people downtown! (Not even when there is a big cruise boat in the harbor!) What is the parade all about?

Children's Karnaval Parade was this afternoon. Next Sunday is the big (adult's) parade.
