Okay, it isn't Friday yet, but I thought I'd try to start the day with some nice pics that didn't appear on Thursday..too many of us too busy I guess. Jake's arrangement for the cam cleaning worked out well! Thanks, Jake! So glad the archives are there, too!

Alright... so it's somewhere above Kralendijk, am I correct ?

Do you happen to know the dive-site No. (if there is any at all)

Per "Bonaire Shore Diving Made Easy", Front Porch/Eden Rubble is BNMP site #28. It would be just north of Harbour Village Marina which is above Kralendijk. If you have an old Bonaire map, it would be south of Sand Dollar Condo/Bari Reef but north of Harbour Village/Something Special.

Hello everybody,
I didn't popped out these two last weeks due to personnal worries, but I everyday had a look on BT and it helped to feel better.
We won't be on Bonaire tomorrow, but at Sharm el Sheikh for a one whole week dive. I wish a nice stay to those leaving to our predilected island.
Sure I'll miss ( a little bit ) BT, the cams and you all. Enjoy ! See you back in one week, with a probably strong SESPD ( the Sharm el sheikh BPD equivalent ).

Good afternoon everyone! I've been keeping an eye on the cams since I got home, but haven't had much chance to say 'hello'.

I noticed this pic posted from Septeber 11th, but nobody every weighed in on what they thought it was. It actually looks like a nautilus to me, but I doubt it really is because I don't believe they live in the waters of the southern Caribbean.... any ideas?

The trip was great (of course) but it's good to be home. I've started a trip report here at home and when I get the appropriate slides scanned in, I'll be sure to post it.

OK. In my Humann Reef Fish book, the white stripes down the length of the fish are spaced just like the culprit. Color is reasonably close too. I think that could indeed be his eye. You got a better idea? and don't say nautilus... :-)

I'd guess parrotfish - probably an intermediate queen or princess. It's facing the camera - if you look closely you can see the lips and both eyes. The fish's right eye (on the left from our view is pretty obvious. The fish's left eye is a little more difficult to spot.

That or it's a nautilus octopus :-)

Very weird shot though.

Jake

OK, Silly question. What does intermediate mean? Can't be bothered to get the dictionary out. Annie B.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Snorkelguy {Scott} on Saturday, September 14, 2002 - 10:13 am:     Edit PostPrint Post

Intermediate:

It means teenager (not juvenile but not yet adult) or in the case of parrot fishes, not the terminal male phase that all Parrotfish’s have the potential to become if the environment dictates. That is if pappa was a rolling stone or somebody’s dinner.
