Good Morning everyone....

Well, we made it home just fine (although a few minor delays on AJ). Thanks to Annie and Ginny for posting our pics at the Street Cam on Friday's talk thread. We had a great trip even though we never made it to the reef cam - the night dive at Salt Pier with the Octopus and Spotted Eagle Ray more than made up for it. :) Look for a complete trip report sometime in the next couple weeks.

Michael

Hi Eileen. Enjoy your day off. Annie B.

Michael, You are welcome. Glad to see you had a safe journey home. The night dive sounds very interesting. Annie B.

Annie,
Scubabeauty(on Community Chat) said it is a trumpet fish. I checked and I think she is correct.

I have a question.

In all the information I have read it says that if you go into town, ladies should wear dresses.
Is this correct?

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Carol Eddy on Monday, September 2, 2002 - 10:05 am:     Edit PostPrint Post

Nancy & John,
I didn't think ladies needed to wear dresses to town, but I haven't visited Bonaire yet (next April)so I could be wrong .... but, hold on, someone will be along who can answer your question.

Not really. Mainly you should wear more than a bathing suit. Throw a sundress or shorts and T over your suit.

Happy Monday from rainy Cape Cod..since I returned Aug. 19th the weather has been mostly bleak and wet. I did sail Sat. on a cold but awesome NE wind at Mayflower Beach in Dennis.

Nancy, you may wear shorts and t shirts in town. Rarely you see a female tourist in a bathing suit to only and they really stand out. Not sure why you read something about dresses..what was the date of the publication??

Hello everybody,
Just coming home from work, and thanks for the nice pics you posted. Annie...didn't you recognized "Satchmo", the trumpet fish ?
These thin fishes could reach 2 meters long and they love to stay up side down mixing with the long soft coral branches, waiting for preys. They could be grey, pinkish, yellow or spotted blue.Yellow and spotted are the greatest.
I'm not feeling quite good, I cought a cold cause of this strange and crazy weather. Time for me to prepare dinner, catch you later. Have a nice evening all.

Hi Annie B,
Yes, I cant remember the last time I saw a sunset like that. Wish I could see it for real.Mind it get dark early on Bonaire.

Maria, We've been looking at some brochures, It's also rather expensive to get there. When we went to Dominican Republic, it got dark very early there too. Not very good at geogrophy, but the nearer the equator, the darkness comes early I think. I expect someone will correct me if I am wrong. Annie B.

Close to the equator the days and nights are almost the same length winter and summer. There is very little twilight though, once the sun is down, night follows quickly. Like the oooolllddd song goes 'night falls like thunder'. No long twilights like you get way further north or south.
