I will be arriving in Bonaire for my first (of many I hope) visit in 36 days. I have to say, that because of this site, I will be so familiar with a location that I have never been to. I also want to thank Jake and Linda for the wonderful job they do for all of us. I have not posted on the site very much, but have been lurking everyday for over a year. So in closing, Happy Birthday Bonaire Web Cams, and "Go RPI".

Hi everyone. I just signed up a few days ago after I found this site. I'm from Ontario. Love the webcams. It's proving to be quite a distraction from work!
I got my PADI open water cert. last month after doing some wreck diving near Kingston. Got my open water dives done in Cuba. Hope to get down south again this winter.
Got one question about the webcam. I thought the visibility would be farther than it looks. What is the distance covered?

Hi Ian, fellow Kingston diver! The reef cam is in about 10 ft of water, you can see to the drop off, and sometimes when dive boats are moored at Small Wall divesite, you can see the boat hull and dive ladder. I'm guessing the viz is what you'd see if you were diving Small Wall, so it depends on the day/time of year. Jake, Linda, suggestions?

Hi, everyone, we're back from a great trip to the Northwest, Glacier Nat'l park and Canada! Happy Birthday webcams...looks like a lot of underwater celebrating going on today!

Great captures to all. I am so glad to see so many great pictures. I use to come here everyday but work is not cooperating. LOL
Robert, I am very jealous of your trip. ;) We go once a year and I can't wait to return.

I am just returning from work and discover the webcams celebrate their second aniversary today.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY then and many many future birthdays. Thanks Jake and Linda, it couldn't be without you and you succeeded the wonderful challenge to make us dream so far away from this little paradise. Some even learned to dive or snorkel...and I met wonderful people on BT.

I will toss in my Congrats and well wishes, too! Our lives have been deeply touched and definitely changed (for the better) with the birth of the Bonaire Webcams. Hi, again everyone...been busy on the computer doing a newsletter. Thanks for the welcome back, Maria...We had a great time horseback riding, hiking and having high tea! Glacier was incredibly packed with wildflowers, mtn goats, bighorn sheep and bears! Speaking of wildlife, here's a couple of the few fish that seemed to appear today...

Thanks everyone! Yep - it's been two years since we officially announced & launched the Bonaire WebCams (although we had them running in a preview/test period as of March 22, 2000).

However, in all your thanks you really need to include Dan & Faith Senie, our stateside partners in the project. It was Dan's technical knowledge relating to networking and Linux that made image delivery via the Web possible, and those same skills keep our servers running smoothly even now. I just provided the location, camera cleaning, and a bunch of the software development :-)

So, thanks Dan & Faith! :-)

PS For the person that said "Go RPI!", Dan, Faith, I, and Linda all attended RPI (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute) and Dan & I each met our respective spouses (Faith & Linda) there too :-)
