Hi, I visited Bonaire off a ship last year and snorkelled for the first time - having learnt in the local UK public pool!! Loved it, am coming again in October, just wanted to say how much I enjoy the web cams and how amazing it is to have such a link when it is wet and awful in the UK to see you and your sun and sea is a tonic.
will check you all out again tomorrow - home time now

Good way to describe it, Angela...as a tonic...I like that! Welcome aboard and I do hope you can return to Bonaire someday and snorkel like you have never snorkeled before....day and night! Ayo. Carole

Hi Angela, Welcome,
I too am from the UK, and fairly new here, and know what you mean about escaping from our weather, what happened to our summer? Great Site this, so educating too. I was reading up some of the trip reports,(really interesting)

And here I was thinking that the english summer had switched sides of the Northsea this year... biggrin. But I guess it's bad over there as well huh?

Hi Marc,
It is full of surprises here, Just over a week ago we had a heatwave, now this week it's been raining heavy and quite cold, who knows what tommorow will be.

I think Bonaire is just waking up. Blikje seems quite awake.

Hi Good morning everybody and welcome Angela. Be careful, this site is very dangerous, you get addicted very quickly and I think you already stepped the non return point. Same weather as yesterday here in Paris, just 16 degres, a little bit less cloudy and a good jumper to warm a bit. That's convenient... I have a lot of house work to do, and won't be tempted by a sunbath on the roof terrace. Have a nice day all.

Hi Martine, Good Morning,
Always lots to do, but keep being pulled back to Bonaire. Martine did you read Bills report in Community Chat yesterday, about a load of Jelly fish washed up on a beach in France.?

The weather is a mess all over Europe... 35 degrees Celsius last week here, today the streets are flooded with water. And northern Italy has had hailstones the size of golfballs...

Just 3 more weeks of this sh... eh... mess, and then I can enjoy beautiful mornings like you just posted... sigh

and soon the daffodils will be popping out of the ground, the new leaves popping up through the earth with the dewdrops of early morning melting frost, has the beginnings of providing the earth with the richness of the beauty of spring....and little lambs bouncing around too in another month or so..

Gees, You are living quite far from us. As Mark says, digging a hole from here, we reach your garden. Wait a minute Janeece, when we'll be freezing here ( I means a little bit more than now, and in a very near future ) you'll be enjoying your nice summer, right ?
One more question, how do you manage to reach Bonaire from so far ? Did you dive on the australian Great Barrier Reef ? This is our dream, but perhaps we'll do it in december as Jean Paul's son is going to Australia in a couple of days for a one year and a half studies, and we'll go to visit him and witness the 2002 december 4th total solar eclipse in Adelaide.

Hi Janeece. we were in NZ last year and it was nearing winter, and it was so hot, hotter then our summers. We were in North Island, is it supposed to be colder up North then the south.? or the other way round.

Marc, Sounds like Europe has got some freak weather. Are you going to Bonaire too.

Indeed, it seems like the Conveyerbelt (the watercurrent that runs from Greenland all the way through to Chile and back) is slowly making changes worldwide... An el Nino on steroids...

We (my gf and I) will go to Curacao August 28th, spend a few days there with her father, and then go over to Bonaire for a week and a half... and then back to Curacao again. 2,5 Weeks in total. cool

Yes Martine...along way away i am, and yes i will enjoy the heat when it gets here, last summer weather wasnt that great hopefully this time around it will be much better.

I reach Bonaire by internet so instead of 30 hours i reach it in 30 seconds...lol..i should have a superwoman t-shirt on...around the world in 30 seconds...lmao, and dive unfortunately not but that is something i am also looking forward to in summer..my first discover scuba lessons..whoohoooooooo.

Hi Maria..yes North Island is so humid in comparison..Lower South island is brisk and fresh, beautiful countryside that doesnt have the smog like Auckland and other NI towns up there.

Not long to go for your holiday now, Have a nice time, and give us a wave on the cams when you are in Bonaire.

Janeece, NZ is well known for water sports, do you dive over there?

Hello all,

Janeece I would love to trade your weather for mine right now, today is the first day since we got back from Bonaire that we won't be in the 90's F not sure what that would be in C. Cooler but rain all day. I can't wait to go back to the island.

Not much happening on the web cams at the moment.fish Oh well I suppose I had better stop dreaming and get back to some work.
Have a nice day all, sweet dreams Janeece.

Good Morning Everyone!

The weather in T. FL is hot & humid! We are heading out this afternoon to get on the airplane to go to Atlanta, GA and spend the night so we can catch the 8:30 flight to Bonaire. Made my sign last night, hope it shows up on the cam. It reads Hi BT's, Ida,Tim & Kenny. So look for me. This is our first visit.

I'll be checking in through out the day untill 2:45 and then I'm out of here...yeepee!

See Ya,
Ida

Maria, Janeece, Perhaps Annie B passed her first
diving level, who knows. Once you discovered scuba, hard to stop, and you won't have to go very deep to see a lot of things, escpecially if you want to make pictures. It is in the range of 6/12 meters you see the most of the reef live. And you have the wonderful feelings of weighlessness and freedom.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Martine TLOUZEAU - Jean Paul GODARD on Tuesday, August 6, 2002 - 8:43 am:     Edit PostPrint Post

Ida, why you, like mark, decided to make me feel low spirit today .
Enjoy Bonaire as much as you can, we'll be waiting for you on the reefcam and save the pictures for your return.
Maria, unfortunately you wont be able to see a part of this solar eclipse. The eclipse path starts from Angola, passes throught Bostwana Zimbawe, South Africa, Mozambique, crosses the India Ocean and ends in Australia, even Janeece won't see the slicest partial eclipsed sun from NZ.For those interested go to : http://sunearth.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclipse/eclipse.html

We will be looking out for you on the cams. Safe journey. (and hopefully a full report when you get back)

Martine, must be a really wonderful experience, no wonder everybody is so hooked.

Yes Maria, a total solar eclipse is the most amazing show the nature could offer to you. It's like BT, when you start you get addicted, and as it occurs in a very tiny line on the earth, the "hooked" do not hesitate to cross the planet to see if the next one will be more beautiful than the former.

Here is a little happy crowd

Maria
Had a great time, PBD is hitting us in the worst way. The trip was the best, we can't wait to go back. I am dropping off the film today and will get some photos scanned in as soon as I can.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Martine TLOUZEAU - Jean Paul GODARD on Tuesday, August 6, 2002 - 9:57 am:     Edit PostPrint Post

Hi Russell, I fear your PBD is just starting. One month and a half we returned and it is still painful. I think looking at the pics helps to overcome, so have yours scanned urgent please ! You can try an Amstel to feel better ( if you can find) but it works with a Budy too, just close your eyes and imagine it's an Amstel, and if you dream of Bonaire, sorry to say, but it's hopeless. The best medicine against PBD till now is thinking about the next trip to Bonaire.

Russell, where did you dive at Bonaire ? Our favorites spots are Hilma Hooker, Salt Pier, Ol'blue, Oil slick leep ( when the ladder is fixed ), 1000 steps and karpata. We also like to have an everyday sunset dive at Divi Flamingo where we use to stay, to see the tarpons hunting.
We dove all the places except the extreme North and South. One day in June we saw a school of 22 tarpons at Salt Pier and a Whale shark just in front of Divi flamingo.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Russell Nielsen on Tuesday, August 6, 2002 - 10:57 am:     Edit PostPrint Post

Martine

We dove Joanne's Sunchi & 18th Palm Thursday, South Bay & Margate Bay Friday, Captian Don's Saturday, Bonaventure & Town Pier (Night) Sunday, Small Wall Monday. All from boat, my wife has spoiled and didn't want to shore dive :(, next time we are going with others that will shore dive. We took about 24 pictures each site and can't wait to see how they turn out.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Martine TLOUZEAU - Jean Paul GODARD on Tuesday, August 6, 2002 - 11:16 am:     Edit PostPrint Post

Russell, I like to dive from boat too, it's more comfortable...but I make the things more simple when shore dives by dressing and undressing the BCD inside the water, as I noticed, sometimes, it could be rough. Will you post your pics on a webpage so everybody can see ?
We have posted ours on our diving website and you find the url on our profile if you wish to have a look. This time Jean Paul started underwater video, and we have around 6 hours movie. He just finished a 35 minutes movie on Hilma Hooker. He has still a lot of work...I wish the water was clearer during your stay, we had a lot of suspensions blurring the pics .
