so glad friday is here again. good morning to all.

have been missing bonaire so much.
we have had a fun and busy summer though, with barry's girls here for the summer. our house has 7 people, 2 dogs, about a dozen barn cats, and 4 horses.

summer is going by too fast. we have been having alot of fun riding our horses up in the mountains and camping overnight. last weekend we saw deer, beaver, birds, and of course chipmunks and squirrels. a golden eagle soared above us. saw signs of elk and bear. colorado does have alot of beautiful places.
we did get drenched on saturday riding. it just poured and we were in the middle of a thunderstorm. the horses thought it was fun. sunday we rode all day and saw such beautiful country. cant wait to do it again. my horses see barry hook up the horse trailer and i think they just get happy ROAD TRIP!!! , they love riding in new places in the country.

barry is taking his daughter sarah to the lake to dive this sunday. she got certified last year and this will be a practice dive for her. it will be fun to take her to bonaire one day. she is so enthusiastic about everything.

Hi all,

Sherry. Life in Colorado sure looks sweet. As an "urban" dweller all that big sky and fresh air would probably kill me!!

Have a "fresh air" vacation coming up the last week of August. My wife and I are going to Manitoulin Island to relax in a cabin.
http://www.manitoulin-island.com/ It is a nice escape. No TV, Radio, cell phones, newspapers. Return brain-dead!

Cheers,
Bill

bill and cheryl,
i always feel that the tv. and news and radio. although informative at times, is what makes us brain dead. you probably will come back from your week at the cabin , refreshed and totally brain alive!!

i am most creative when i am in nature-away from traffic and civilization.

Sherry,

You make a good point. I guess it is a different type of "aliveness" rather than one of "dead or alive" (Not in the GW Bush sense)

The "urban" demands and the kind of news we see everyday, demands a rateace

kind of brain-on-the-go stay on top of it all energy. While feeling it is overwhelming
sys

The "vacation" minset allows one's brain to get out of the frying pan for a bit and creativity and imagination come to the fore. Especially if doing some escape reading.

I recall many years ago after a three week vacation (the only one that long that I've ever taken) we were driving home and I could feel my brain closing in. It was quite disturbing!

Sounds like you have been busy Sherry! Our summer in Colorado has been very hot, which is great for us sun bunnies but terrible for the forest fires and ground. Lawns are turning brown and dieing. I totally agree with the no TV - when we come to Bonaire and stay at Sorobon there is no TV and you know what - we don't miss it!

I agree - it's great to have your brian get out of the frying pan.

We will be in Hato July 31 through August 14 staying at Ultimo Cas - WITHOUT TV! It will be a great excape from it. My son (12 yrs old) actually agrees that he won't miss it - too may other things to do. That's great to know.

5 days to go.....

gail, the only green place i have seen in colorado this year except for a watered lawn was the mountain valley we went to last week. it is up between ute pass and the gravel road on the way between silverthorn and frazer. was a lush valley, they obviously have had some rain there.
this is in the arapahoe nat. forest. beautiful place.

have had a few short rains at home too, and it is nice but still its too late to help the grass in my pasture much. i know hay will cost a forture this year. oh, well, my horseys have to eat. alot of folks are selling their horses to avoid the cost of wintering them. really a good time to get a horse cheap. i will keep mine, i love them too much.

Last August my wife fell and broke he left wrist. Had one of those external "space frames" with the pins screwed into the bones, instead of a cast. Interesting looking contraption. Some people were curious, others couldn't even look.

Have fun with dem bones!
