Goodmorning all,
Hi Barbara,
Annie B's secret is that she is meeting up with Jake and Linda today. (exciting day for Annie today) Annie kindly asked me to join them,(as I live in the area too) but unfortunately I have visitors and have made other arrangements. much to my dissapointment. We found out that we live not far from each other. We are about 10 miles out of London. so it shouldnt take Jake and Linda too long by train.

Barbara and Martine join us in Community chat sometime. us amatuers can practice our gifs, although I,ve yet to find time to make up a collection.

Martine, if you are up and about, I hope your back is better. take it easy today.

Have a good day everyone.

Hi Maria, Hi everybody, goodmorning. Pretty nice day here today.
Lucky Annie ! She's meeting Jake and Linda. I wish they will manage to make her love and start diving... I think Maria someday we have to meet all three in UK, just cross the Channel, not too far, afterall. I'm not so fine this morning, my back pains and there are some movements I can't do. I will remain quiet. Have a nice day all.

Hi Folks, me again,
Jean Paul And I just talked about our next diving vacations, one week in september. I think it will be too short to go back to Bonaire ( rather far and long travel from here). We plan Hurghada or Sharm el Cheikh. For those you already dove in the Red Sea, could you tell us what is the best place ?

Good Morning Everyone. Good Morning Martine! Someone from my husbands work might have been diving in the Red Sea, but I am not sure. I will let you know. I am looking forward to buying my equipment for our scuba course in the next couple of weeks. I am glad that they make perscription masks as I am blind without my glasses! My dad is so excited that I think if we do not invite him along he will be upset. Eileen

I am trying this out. fish

Hi Eileen, thanks for the help. You know, I am using a mask fit for my sight and it is really good, can't even imagine to use a common one. We also have our own equipment and I feel more at ease ( hygienically talking ), we just hire lead belts and tanks. Well done for the animated gif.
Enjoy you WE.

Martine, I have just searched for information on diving in the Red Sea, amazing photos and locations. You will find many web sites on Scuba Diving in the Red Sea. Unfortunately there are a lot of pop up advertisement windows (I hope that makes sense) and I had to constantly clear them. The best thing about scuba diving is that you can do it for the rest of your life! Eileen

Good Morning Martine, Maria, Eileen.

I'm not familiar with Hurghada, but my wife Judi and I, had the wonderful fortune to dive Sharm-El-Sheik in 1999. I would highly recommend it for a number of reasons. The flora and fauna were truly unique - unlike anything we had ever seen to that point. We dove the Galapagos Archipelago in '97, which also had some truly unique sea life, but the Red Sea was thrilling. The people were very friendly and the food was absolutely fabulous! They know pastries in Egypt! Not to compare with the French perhaps, but still great. MARTINE, if you would like - I would be happy to email you a report of our trip. If anyone else is interested, let me know and perhaps I can include you on the email. I don't think it would be appropriate for me to take up the space on this site with a non-Bonaire related trip report.

Hello Brian! My husband and I are going to take scuba lessons in the autumn (we're moving soon) and doing our open water down south. We are thinking of either Bonaire or Cozumel now. There are no direct flights from Toronto. Eileen

Thanks Eileen, I just browsed quickly on the web, but I think it's better to have others experiences before making a choice. But september is rather far and there is no hurry. I am very upset too with all those advertising which oblige you to constantly clear your screen. It's turning worse and worse, as unwanted emails.

Martine, I agree with you on listening to other diver's experiences. As for junkmail, I would rather do without. I will ask my husband (once he gets out of bed in a few hours) about his coworker. As for myself, I will be getting off the computer shortly, I have a busy day of shopping planned! :) Eileen

Eileen.
Congrats on going for your certification! It's a wonderful sport that can be enjoyed by anyone with the gumption to go through the classes. Cozumel, while a very good place to dive, is almost all drift diving due to the relatively strong currents. Perhaps not the best conditions for someone just starting out. Bonaire on the other hand, is some of the easiest physical diving in the world, and offers almost everything that can be seen anywhere else in the region. For your circumstances - Bonaire hands down in my humble opinion.

Thank-you Brian! I definately want to go to Bonaire (largely due to this site) and will do so either next year or the year after. I have been to Cozumel (OK, I was 9 yrs old) and a friend of mine told me about the drift diving. Next month (after the move) we will decide were we would like to go. I am definately looking forward to the course! Eileen

Hi, everyone...Thanks for the answer, Maria. I thought there might be a Jake & Linda visit in the works for Annie B. I'm thinking maybe we should give Brians alien theories a little more thought...looks like a tractor beam from an alien ship coming out of the sky on the North Beach Cams...the waters are quiet though...

Hi Steven,
Who broke your nose just before honeymooning ??? I don't know about diving with a recent broken nose, seems not recommended because of the pressure, but only your doctor will be able to say. Anyway, even without diving, I am sure you'll enjoy Bonaire.
Wish Annie will tell us soon how it was with Jake and Linda.

mornin' all...martine, on the advertisements that are irritating and pop up...i work for an internet based company, and advertising is our primary source of revenue. it is difficult to balance not getting too many banners, pop-ups, pop-unders, all that, and still provide a quality visit for our viewers. think of it like tv commercials, that is how the stations make their money, and if they didnt' have them, all tv would be pbs (public broadcasting system) that try to survive on donations. we have other revenue streams (content licensing, membership, shopping) but they don't bring in enough money to support the company. we are still in the red, and obviously are trying to get to that breakeven point. i know, i am being long winded here, but without the ads, there would be very few good internet sites to search for such great information:)

Hi Cynde,
Thanks you for these informations, I didn't know. But I must confess I never, as perhaps many others, read the adverstisings, just clear the screen. Now regarding the unwanted emails, few are credit promotions, but most of all are sexual improvment pills and porn sites advertisings. I must receive around 50 unwanted emails per day, and believe me, I am stuff of that. I am just thinking of changing my email. I can't stand it any longer.

Hi Everyone!
Just back from the "Pork, Pine & Peanut Festival" in Surrey County, Virginia.......it was soooooooo hot and humid! Martine, I lived in Egypt for two years (91-93) and we often went to Sharm. My husband and son got their diving certifications while we were there. I snorkel, but even the snorkeling was absolutely fabulous! So now it has been ten years since we were last there......we talk often about going back one day. You can get better information from Brian since he was there more recently. When we used to go, it was not so developed as I'm sure it is now (even then there were plans for more big hotels) We always stayed at the Movenpick Hotel. There used to be lots of places to do shore dives, but I am afraid you may not be able to gain access to those areas so easily now because of development. I am glad to hear from reading Brian's post that the diving is still great.

(and where is Annie!?! - I jumped on as soon as I got home anticipating a "lunch report" lol)

Carol

hi martine, the way i get rid of my junk email, is i have had an aol account for 8 years, and whenever i buy anything or register for anything online when they ask for my email, i give them my aol email address. this way i just go in and clear it out every couple of days (i get about 50 a day of those). there are companies that pay for email addresses that sites have collected (in the states it is actually illegal to sell an email address without permission from the person who's address they are selling...but some still do by what i hear) that isn't the kind of ads i am talking about that our company uses. we have the same tpye of ads that jake and linda have here on bt. set up a new email address, and if you can, keep your old on for junk!

Steven,
Congratulations on your up coming wedding!!!
If your doctor says you can't dive with while your broken nose is mending, you could always snorkel in Bonaie and there is plenty to see!!!! My favorite mode of transportation is the Woodwind. It is a trimaran that sails out of the Divi Flamingo and does great guided snorkels. It is a beautiful way of spending a morning!!
Have a great honeymoon!!!
