Our small black dog, Blikje, passed away during the night. The old timers of the BonaireWebCams will remember her as the dog that sat on the wall at our front door.

I'm so sorry to hear about your Blikje passing away I didn't know her but she seems like she was an icon to BT. She was a cutie.

Jake and Linda my condolences. She was a great dog and always happy to have her belly rubbed. What a sweet gentle soul, she had a good run and died with the ones she loved. What more could you ask of any of us?

Happy to see you come home, getting her bellie rubbed...putting up with Grendel pushing her way in when you wanted to give her solo attention...laying in the hall on the tile to cool off during the day...I am sure Grendel will miss her as well...they were buds. This is very sad news to hear. Our condolences to Jake, Linda, Bas and Yana...and to Grendel, too. It is very difficult to lose a family member but it is nice to see she was with her loved ones when she passed. Carole and Joe

Jake and Linda, so sorrow about Blikje passing away. I know you will miss her very much. We had a few times brought down rawhide chews for both of them. When Blikje finished hers, she would go over and take Grendel's rawhide from her. I think our oldest dog will be going where Blikje is now soon. Gary & Kathy

I'm sorry, Linda, Jake. I watched her come and go on the old cam, loved the peek at daily life on Bonaire.
For me, pets are family members and mourned as such. I'm sorry you lost her, but know you gave her a good life.

I am so sorry to hear of Blikje's passing. She was the sweetest little dog and as everyone has said she loved to get her belly rubbed. Linda it must be even more difficult having Jake away from the family and Jake it must be tough on you as well to not be there for comforting each other. You are all in my thoughts and prayers at this sad time.

Tom just came by and made my day better with a big hug and some flowers.

I, too, add my condolences to all of you. I never met Blikje except through the web cam. She was wonderful greeter of all the visitors to the street cam.

Here are some pictures from a picnic at the beach last year. I think Seb and Mare were with us.

Indeed we were with you Linda, and Blikje had a good time. We have one of those Blikje pictures on our wall from last xmas.
I'm happy Martin and Angela brought her over to our rental so we were able to get her little can in the ocean one more time while we were down in November. She had a great time rolling in the sand.
Blikje was smart enough not to go diving with us at the old Richter place, but she enjoyed escorting us out to the reef.

I'm also eternally grateful to Blikje for not expiring as soon as she came back from our rental house.

Jake, Linda, Yana and Bas, we send our condolences as well. Blikje was such a special little girl and she will be missed by us as well.

But memories will help, I'm sure. I remember the earlier Cam days, watching Blikje, Grendel and Mandy at the gate, and the various Blikje or Grendel alerts when either, or both of them got to the other side.

I remember when Blikje hurt herself, and was not supposed to be jumping up to the wall..... which seemed to last only a day or two.

It was really special to be able to see you and the family again last February, and I have memories of Spirit (THE Bird) chasing Blikje out of the dining room.

Hoping that memories help at this sad time.

Jake, Linda, Bas and Yana, I have just found this thread and I am extremely saddened by your loss. I always picture Blikje smiling... she always had that little onery smile. I am going to miss her, too, so much. She was a part of my Bonaire family.

I just went to tell Steve and had tears in my eyes... he said, "what will Grendel do??".

Please accept our heartfelt sympathy. I feel like I have lost one of my own pets. The Blickster will hold a very special place in my heart.

Cynde, as I was reading this thread, I was thinking I wanted to post the picture of me heading out to dive at Small Wall with Blick following me. Thank you so much for finding and posting that.

It sounds like she went peacefully, and although this jaded old fart hates to admit it, I hold firmly to the idea of the Rainbow Bridge. She'll be waiting for you, you can count on it.

Jake and Linda, My heart is heavy with sadness over the passing of Blikje. She will now meet up with our dog Sarah who also went to Rainbow bridge on Wednesday... There will be an empty space on the floor in both our homes and hearts for quite a while.. Hugs to all of you...

I sent an email the other day, but now that I've seen all these postings on BonaireTalk I feel compelled to publicly send you our condolences. We always enjoyed visiting and playing with Blikje - you KNOW how we love the furry children since that's all we choose to have. We will miss her, and feel very sorry for all of you to have lost her. I only wish we'd taken pictures of her while we were visiting last week! The postings of pictures from the webcam and from other friends are so sweet. Michael keeps telling me how adorable she was when you first got her as a pup
