Haven't put the hard work in yet. Waiting for the family to wake up so we can all trundle over to Eden Beach.

Jake

Good Morning Everyone,
I hope the weather on Bonaire is as sunny and bright as in Eileen's post from a year ago.
Jake, sorry the WebCams also suffered from the weather. Hopefully, they won't be too difficult and time-consuming to repair.

Margarita

Well, the UPS is fried. Plug it in and the circuit breaker trips. The spare UPS I had at home is also fried, so time to buy a new one, I guess.

Everything else seems to be working, even the Boingo Hotspot Dan set up here at Eden Beach (that's what I'm connected through now - Dan owes me a one day fee reimbursement ;-) ).

I'm off to clean the ReefCam thoroughly...

Jake

Thanks. It wasn't it too bad shape down there, but the visibility is the pits - about 40 feet right now, and a fair current ripping along.

I've had my exercise for the day ;-)

Does this mean I'm gonna need a reef hook to tie myself to the mooring while I clean the cam in December, or just get there waaaaay early?
Eva intimated that the current is less in the morning.

Yes, Kathy he did and believe it or not, he did finish painting the house! He said there was one day that his side of the island did not get rain and started at 6a.m and painted till dark. But the place looks great! He took pictures from outside to inside, but will have to take more of the outside when sun is out.
I am still recouping from his flight home and I had to drive to Newark instead of Phila. etc., but I got him home and we will celebrate tonight.
:-) :-) Nice to have him back.

Seb, I think you may be onto something...if they attached a reef hook to the mooring block, then you could clip yourself to it and not have to fight the current while your cleaning, or participating in "cam antics."

As I'm not the "engineering" type, how would you put a reef hook onto the mooring block, I mean, how would you drill it in, or is there another way?

Kathy, thanks for the sunsets! Debbie, glad hubby got home OK!

There is a big hole right through the block that would seem an ideal place to put a nice piece of chain. I happen to have some spare shackles and turnbuckles for just such a project. Whattaya think Jake?

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Annette (BonaireTalk Deity - Post #12519) on Saturday, November 20, 2004 - 9:56 pm:     Edit PostPrint Post

Seb. I think we would all enjoy seeing you chained to the mooring block. In the nicest possible sense. LOL. Annie B.

Seb, are you talking about the hole that Charlotte used to live in? I think the chain going through the hole, and coming round the front, shackles and turnbuckles would do the trick! Only thing, is how often the chain would have to be replaced...hmm....I wonder if Michael can pick up some chain at the school he's at for cheap...and someone could take it down (OK, I know, it would be heavy and probably throw anyone over the baggage weight limit...but where there's a will, there's a way!)

The tide seems to be back to normal, not coming much past the pier. Beautiful sunset, sure wish I was there. It has rained all day in southeast Texas, some pretty heavy. Bonaire looks lovely.

Exactly that hole LooHoo. I get all my Bonaire chain at Kooeymanns Cynde. And come to think of it, I suppose the turnbuckle and chain would be enough to do the job, though I'd bring a shackle or two in case. I mean I pay about three guilders for three feet of 1/4" chain, I suspect eight feet of 3/8th would be plenty for the job. I think it's a three foot square block, but maybe it's a meter. Anybody want to take a measurement?
