Hi all, one peek from Bonaire (Am I glad that my connection at home is much faster than it is here.... It takes ages to load the pages) Weather is fine over here, did make two dives again yesterday, at the house reef of divi's and my knee is holding on great. Later we go for a boat dive.... And we are trying to visit the reefcam tomorrow, so hopefully it is on line than... And I think we need to ask for permission. But we are gonna try

Yep - the cable's been cut. Just heard from Eden Beach. I'll need to wander over there this afternoon and see if it's repairable, and if not, install the back-up cable we have on island... Arg.

Looks like the cut is clean - we're going to put the land portion of the cable in a PVC when I attempt to reattach it later this afternoon.

Dilly - I have been wondering the same thing - one thing they boast about is that their beach is natural - not man made - sure looks like a lo to man making to me right now!!!LOL!! Though you have to cut them some slack since a hurricane did do some damage to the beach!!!

I think they ordered some AL red clay. ;) Maybe it's just a tad wet.

Does anyone on Bonaire know the extent of the damage to the Divi Flamingo hotel? They never replied to my e-mail. This will be our first trip to Bonaire and am wondering if the hotel is still there. All I saw on the messages was that the Divi got hit again and the boat dock was destroyed.

Kathy - LOL - I was going to say the GA red clay - it really does not look like sand!!!

Kind of an art deco desing!!!

Eric - All I have seen are pics of the missing dive dock - from the pics - the hotel is okay!! You may want to call them directly and talk to them.

LOL Kathy - that red clay goes through SC and into NC - as far as Raleigh. Though I swear it is redder in GA!!! Im a lucky - in that I live just far enough east of Raleigh that I do not have a red clay yard - only a few patches!!! Thank God - or all my kids socks and shoes would be stained red!!! Its bad enough when they visit relatives in SC - it takes me weeks of scrubbing to get the red clay out of their clothes!!!
More designs in the sand/clay!!!tracks

Mary,
Do you live anywhere near Germanton? My older sister lives in Germanton, she works for Sara Lee Direct. She's in the Just My Size advertizing department, I think - nothing to do with anything edible, more's the pity!

The sand patterns are great!

Based on the above, I'm not sure if they will be done today to allow me to reconnect the ReefCam... May need to wait until tomorrow when they have stopped messing with things. The folks at Eden Beach were going to call me when things were ready.

Jake

Susan - I would have to look up where that is - I think that is closer to Winston Salem - as most of Sarah Lee's operations are based out of there. I will let you know how close that is.

Non edible - how boring!!LOL!!!

Jake - thanks for the update - we understand!!!

Hi Chris, yes indeed they cut the cable. Maybe the beach needs a sign "Call Jake before you dig here". ;) Anyway, he says (if you read on back in the thread) that he thinks he can fix it tomorrow. We hope so!

Strange looking beach tonight, red sand with a pile of tires and tracks!

Dilly, I keep trying to get people at work to download Mozilla Firefox (browser), and it's free. IE was killing me with it's adware sneaking in and all the problems. Mozilla is a different animal, but looks and acts much the same.

Dilly, try using Firefox, at least just for the Bonaire Webcams and see if it works for you...and it's got neat features, like favorites that you choose (like the cams) can be a tab on your toolbar, AND you can have umpteen screens open at once with the tabs, no losing where you were or opening up different sessions of IE. So sorry your 'puter is giving you trouble - but I suspect IE may be the problem, some kind of adware that's slipped in, messing with a bunch of ya'll.
