Y'know, I think that big thing could be the same horse-eye jack that Linda helped identify about 2 weeks ago. When we were there in early August, there was just the one, slowly circling the wreck and out into deeper water, making the schooling fish around the wreck scatter like flies when it would approach. It did have a yellow tail like in my fish ID book (the one I kept seeing there).

HI Kathy!! That tank on the side is a second tank that I use when doing long/deeper dives. I get down to a certain psi on my primary tank( on my back) and then I use the second tank on the side. It has a reg on it and I just switch over. That way I can stay down a little longer without running out of air:-) :-) :-) And not that I use much air (I always have plenty left over) but one does use a little more at 200 feet, and then there is the decompression time . Have to allow for all that....

So, Sue.....is that technical diving? I guess so kind of. I hope to take the course someday soon.

Yep. That looks like a horse eye jack. There's a school of dozens of them not far from the ReefCam (under the yachts moored to the north).

A few other tidbits:

1) There was an outage of the Internet connection for the WebCams this morning. It affected the leased line we use for the WebCams as well as Telbo/BonaireLive dial-up connections. Telbo seems to have fixed it sometime past 10am this morning. I'm in the process of uploading all the missed captures to the WebCam archives - it will probably take a couple of hours to complete that process.

2) Yes - that was me in the cool shades and dark shirt on the North BeachCam :-)

3) I went and cleaned and adjust all the top side WebCams as best I could. The BeachBarCam had a lot of salt residue on the lens, which I cleaned off - should be a lot sharper now. I also fixed (I think) the tilt of the South and North BeachCams.

4) Paul, one of the instructors at WannaDive tells me that a Sergeant Major fish has taking up residence on the ReefCam mooring block and has been laying eggs there. So, while Charlotte can never be replaced, we do have a new member of the damselfish family who has adopted the ReefCam.

I think that covers everything I needed to share :-)

Jake

Thanks Jake!
Hey, did you happen to see where they hid the beach chairs? ;) Seriously, I'm glad to see it all coming back together.

Another thing, I suppose it's becoming more apparent what a giant resource your cams are to the island, in light of the numbers of people who came in during the hurricane. When trying to decide where to go earlier this year, and in researching the islands - we stumbled across the cams and the Bonaire Talk forum. THIS is what sold us on Bonaire. And of course, if anyone researching GOOGLES Bonaire, they are led right here. Amazing tool you have for promoting tourism here - I think the best resource on the net because the cams tell the story in living color, and the people on these boards round out the picture. Thanks again!

Well. I , for one am a bit concerned about any relative of the Damelfish family taking up residence at the Reef Cam. We have been brutally assaulted by the little meanies!! Such creatures should be banned from the cams!! So say I!!!!!!:-) m:-)
