Hi gals! A quick peek in...and judging by the number of marine park tags...and the "S" on the wetsuit for "Superman" me thinks this is Jake giving the cam a clean and checking on the water temp sensor:-)

I wish I were there having a beer! We are having a horrible heat wave today...it's over 90F here at the house, and that NEVER happens! We're praying for the ocean breeze to kick in in a couple hours and cool things off!

The ReefCam is doing great - the type of algae growing on the lens is pretty easy to wipe off - not that encrusting thick stuff we would get in the shallows.

The UW Temperature probe is a different story - apparently the cable got played with by man or fish, and ended up in the rocks, and then got severed by excessive rubbing against the rocks. So, that's down for the foreseeable future - Dan's going to need to build another probe assembly and ship it down, and this one will get placed in the water protected by PVC.

Jake. Thanks for the info. Will we see this wreck turn into a living reef or will it stay the same as it is now. Not sure what coral or anenomies, anenomes (oh, I can't spell that word) can cling on to. Annie B.

Thank-you for the clean cam Jake! I missed some neat pics today. Joel had a good time at his parents. It was quiet here at home. I wish everyone good night!

Annette,

The wreck is already a living reef - lots of small corals, lots of life all over it. It will probably take decades for you to see larger corals on it, but it's definitely thriving. In fact, all the water there is teeming with life - saw a large school of horse eye jacks behind the ReefCam mooring - about 20 feet away. I also saw a couple of scorpion fish in some sort of courting attempt (one would snuggle up to the other, and the first one would move away, all irritated :-) ).

Still need to get you and Trevor to Bonaire so we can share this all with you!

Jake
