martine,

you will be most welcome back here! Rio is a wonderful place to visit. Unfortunately in the city the dive is not THAT awesome, but worth a try.

Other places to go (diving) are Arraial do Cabo, Buzios and Angra dos Reis.

In Brazil there are some fantastic spots that are MUST GO. Fernando de Noronha, Abrolhos and Bonito are fine examples. Recife and Salvador if you like shipwrecks.

If someone ever need advice on diving in Brazil feel free to send me a message: danielaccioly@ig.com.br.

PS - In all these places they serve capirinha (with cachaça) and caiporoska (with vodca). Variants and experiments with other sources of alcohol are also worth a try... :-)

Mary, São Paulo is our biggest city. It´s cold, polluted and has lots of traffic. It is as big as NY and Mexico City... really a place for meetings only... :-)

Florianópolis is in the state of Santa Catarina (south of Brazil). "rumors" says that u can find the most beautiful women in the country there.

just a question: how did you manage to do your meetings drunk? tell me because i need to repeat this strategy at work! ;)

Daniel - I spent most of my time at Florianópolis - which was quite beautiful.
We flew in to Sao Paulo for a one day meeting - luckily I had someone from my company come pick us up and take us to the hotel for the meeting and then take us back to the airport. My company has an office in Sao Paulo and I had a team working on a study there. The local airport was very confusing for us Americans who could speak no Portuguese!!! At least I was not alone - I had 2 clients with me.

Drinking was in the afternoon after all meetings were done - it was a scientific conference that I attended - so you needed the drinks to unwind. Luckily the client I was with felt the same way too. We spent the afternoons looking out over the ocean - it was great!!!

Boy I wish I was back here right now!!! newsunset.jpg

Annie, u can achieve a similar effect as Kathy's cool watercolors in PSP.
Go to the "Effects" menu, click "Artistic Effects", click "Brush Strokes". In the "Presets" dropdown list click on "Water color". The effects are better (to my opinion) if u set the "Softness" to 5 and the "Brush" "Width" to 1, but u can experiment with the settings :-)
