Does anyone have any suggestions of what to use (other than a slate) to make a fairly large underwater sign to use when "posing" in front of the reef cam?

Scott, print your sign out in word, landscape style and make the letters as big as you can, then take them to Kinko's (or some printer place that is local for you) and get them laminated. Kinko's locally only charged a buck for lamination of each. Stuff it in your bc and then you are ready to flash the cam when you get there!

Great idea Cynde -- thanks. Guess that's why you're the current ranking BT Deity!!!!

...and if you want things to look even larger, you can print out your sign on a larger sheet of paper (say 11x17 or even 24x36). It's still going to be pretty inexpensive to have it laminated and easy to fold up for travel to the camera.

Make your letters at least 2" high and use a thick bold font (Arial Black is a very common font for most computers). You'll also want to make sure you're not too far back from the camera when you flash it(leave it alone Kelly). I don't remember off the top of my head what the suggested distance is, but I seem to recall somewhere around 10' would be good - someone else help me out here.

I actually used freezer paper, message with wide magic marker and then " laminated" over that with a wide roll of clear packing tape that I got for $1....worked well..was waterproof and folded easy in the BC..guess we are cheap

You're not cheap Debbi, I'm just lazy! lol

I have a print shop directly across the street and it's WAY too easy to print out a sign and take it to them. Lazy, party of one. lol

OK, it's stupid question time. We are travelling down at the end of the month. I will make a point of appearing on the web cams. How do I find the pictures when I return home many days later. Or is that too much to ask for?

Hey Bill and welcome to Bonaire talk...
with a paid membership you would have access to all the archives for one year. Go here to see what it is all about http://my.bonairewebcams.com/MembershipTypes.php

Also I am sure that someone will capture your image on these pages, you will just have to find them and then save them to your computer. Have a wonderful time and make sure that you add your name to the July/August list in everything else....

There seems to be a bit of obsession here regarding interest in my flashing the webcam. While I do not currently have any plans to perform such an exhibition, I CAN be bought.......

Scott

You can also use a small slate if you hold it close to the cam say about six inches away.

Scott, you need to be closer than 10 feet. Probably no farther than 5 or six really to have the sign be seen. It seems like you are on top of the cam, but any farther away makes it difficult to read...flashing the cam...it has been done...some have been nice, others should have kept their shorts on! (I don't think any of us will ever forget "Mark" LOL!)

Hmmm - I go away for four months and CYNDE LEE becomes the current ranking DEITY. What's up with that?

Scott - no flashing, please. When New England guys moon us - the cam goes SNOW WHITE!

No offense, Rusty; as a long time BT lurker but only recent participant, I admit that my understanding of the deity hierarchy is woefully underinformed! And I'll let the Snow White comment go by as long as no one starts making any Seven Dwarf comments......and I'm actually a native New Yawkuh, but I DO love living in New England....!

As ranking Deity in the PANTHEON of God-desses, you are forgiven, Scott.

It's a good thing I didn't stay away any longer though, or they would have caught up with me. :-)

New England ROCKS -- especially this time of year. Could yesterday have been moer perfect?
