Bon Dia all. John, that's amazing you should ask that question. I was thinking the same thing and searched the archivies to see if we have any reds. Sorry to say they are all but gone as are the yellows and most of the green. I also went back and checked the discussion about the future reef cam location. No mention of the loss of colors although Jake apologized for his photo of the spot for that reason.

We did see the yellow on the rock beauty, and that showed up pretty well. Annie B.

Good morning everyone. Kelly said I needed to come check out the new cams. I love them! The beach cam makes me feel like I am there. Thanks for the heads up Kelly. I like seeing the different fish too. Have a great Monday everyone.
|
By Cecil Berry (Supreme BonaireTalker - Post #3565) on Monday, July 5, 2004 - 9:42 am: |
You're right Annie but he was pretty close to the cam, there was also a little yellow in the goatfish. Any distance from the camera and there's only blue left. Look at the diver yesterday with a flag, something we know is bright red, almost none got to the cam.
|
By Annette (BonaireTalk Deity - Post #11227) on Monday, July 5, 2004 - 9:47 am: |
Yeagh. I know what you're saying Cecil. I love the new cam anyway, and seeing the new fishes. Is the goatfish the one with the yellow on it's mouth. I have to learn to id the fishes from scratch again. Annie B.

Noticed the conduit had resurfaced last night. Glad to see the workers out taking care of that. Wish I could remember their names. There was one fellow from the Dominican Republic, another from Venezuala and the third from Mozambique. None of them spoke English, but for the most part we managed to communicate. When we got confused, we'd get a translation

Cecil, I was thinking about the colors yesterday too..guess we'll only get a little up close...too bad but we do have new fish to compensate!

At first I thought the 6:50 shot had a grumpy grouper on the lower left. This new depth and cast of fish is confusing my widdle mind.

I think Mr. Yellow lips is a Spanish Hog fish...looks like the one in my reef fish book...here's Picasso..not quite as close up
|

I wonder if we'll see Satchmo? I'll miss him the most, I think. He had a sense of humor. I thought it was cool when he'd hitch a ride with a parrotfish.
|
By Barbara Leary (Supreme BonaireTalker - Post #6013) on Monday, July 5, 2004 - 12:24 pm: |
Hiya Rusty.....yup, I think that is a creole fish in the 12:10...same pose opposite direction than the book! What a poser! LOL
|
By Cecil Berry (Supreme BonaireTalker - Post #3566) on Monday, July 5, 2004 - 12:28 pm: |
Mr Yellow Lips; my guess is a Spanish Hog Fish with those markings and big mouth. I wish we could see the body, that would be proof.
|

By Cecil Berry (Supreme BonaireTalker - Post #3567) on Monday, July 5, 2004 - 12:44 pm: |
I take that back, now I think some kind of grouper. The mouth just looks to grouper like and not hogfish like.
|
By Daniel Senie (Experienced BonaireTalker - Post #304) on Monday, July 5, 2004 - 1:27 pm: |
There was a trumpet fish hanging around the wreck on Saturday morning, so there's certainly a chance of it visiting the cam.
|
By John Stigaard (Experienced BonaireTalker - Post #226) on Monday, July 5, 2004 - 1:28 pm: |
Cecil, For Mr yellow lips, how about a porgy, such as a Pluma or maybe some type of snapper.

Well so far, the only fish that I have found with yellow lips is a unicolour grouper. Can't see a pine under the chin though. Annie B.
