Morning Eileen, but I fear you're already away :o(
Quite grey on Bonaire this morning, but I am sure it will soon improve.
I am busy with home work and I have a lot to do ( 15 days I couldn't care of the home as I should ).
cafe1 is served, even if it's lunch time here :o)
Have a nice day.

Eileen. Thank you for the pictures.
Elvira. I have your red eye today. Broken blood vessel in my right eye. It looks very pretty (NOT)
John. Thanks for the coffee. A new place down the road from me has opened serving up Krispy Kremes, but I don't like them LOL. Annie B.

Good Morning everyone,

It may be a cloudy morning, but you know what they say. "A cloudy day in Bonaire is better than... (fill in your own)" :-)

Annie: your question from yesterday. DCS is decompression sickness, it is when nitrogen bubbles form in the blood or other tissues as a result of staying too long at depth or coming up to fast. I have oversimplified the answer, but if you really want to know, a web search will give you more than enough information.

Martine, glad you are feeling better. Rest and good coffee are a good remedy.

Hi Meryl,

I think I recall Jake saying all the cams were going down around the 20 something of June and the server was being moved too. So I guess we will all be jonesing for a day or two until he has it back on line.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Jake Richter (Moderator - Post #4956) on Tuesday, June 15, 2004 - 10:30 am:     Edit PostPrint Post

The Bonaire WebCams Web site (which resides on servers in Massachusetts) will continue to be operational, but sans live images during the two weeks or so that we are moving hardware on Bonaire. Archives of images prior to the Dark Date of June 20th will be accessible as well.

The BonaireTalk site, also hosted in Mass., will be unaffected other than that folks used to posting WebCams pics over the course of the day will have no such pics to post for a couple of weeks (and no, please don't find substitutes to post here - if you have an urgent need to post family-friendly, non-copyrighted pics, do so in Community Chat :-) ).

Jake

Good morning, everyone!

Really, John, if you want to send someone for coffee, you should at least send them to Seattle's Best. Granted it is now owned by Starbucks, but, at least, they've kept the same formula.

Not only is it quiet on CC, its quiet on the cams. Nothing but blue sky, blue sea, and dry pavement.

Very busy day for me - work and other - I was involved in a hit and run accident last night!!!! The guy hit my from behind as I was turning left into my neighborhood!!!! Never stopped!!! I am okay - but I do not think the Miata will make it - will find out soon from the body shop!!! Today I am a bit sore around the shoulders and neck - but nothing bad - it could have been worse - since the Miata really offers no protection!!!

Cynde - the Jerk never stopped!!! I could have been dead in the car for all he knew!!! The lady behind him in a truck took off after him to try to catch him!!! She chased him into a neighborhood - where he ditched the car and ran in to woods behind a house - got the license plate number - however does not appear to have written something down correctly - also it was a Texas plate!!! When the police called it in - it was not in the system. She came back and picked up some of the construction workers that had come over to help me and they tried to catch him before he left - but by the time they got there - he had gone!! Do not know if they will catch him!!!

I had to laugh after a while though - it is amazing how many men will stop and ask if you are okay and offer to help you. I guess it looks pitiful - a women standing on the side of a raid next to a wrecked car!!! I even had a guy in a Jeep offer to pull the car out of the ditch!!!

Quite an exciting evening!!! Everyone in the neighborhood heard the crash - except my hubby - who was even outside at the time. I had to get a neighbor who drove up - go get him - since he did not hear anything and was not answering the phone!!!

Yup - he hit me on th back right panel - tore off the bumper - spun me around - until I landed in the ditch with my bumper about 30 feet away from the car!!! He had to be doing something to not stop and at least see if I was okay!!

The lady that ran after him was furious!!! She saw him come up on me and not slow down - thinking all along that he was going to hit me. I was turning left and he came up from behind me traveling the same direction!!!

Cynde...I didn't feel it, we are too far north of you but I went on line and found out the following:
A moderate earthquake occurred at 3:28:48 PM (PDT) on Tuesday, June 15, 2004.
The magnitude 5.1 event occurred 84 km (52 miles) WSW of Rosarito, Baja California, Mexico.
The hypocentral depth is 15 km ( 9 miles).

Karen, that is a totally different epicenter than what I found! It's odd, because the table, monitor, shook, and we are on the 3rd floor, so the building always "sways" it did that for a few seconds, and then it stopped, and then started again...I wonder if there were 2...where did you find that?

What is worrying us all, is that one was South, one was North, one minute apart...

Earthquake ? OMG !
I experienced one ( just a skake ) in Eilat ( Israel ) some years ago and I am definitely panicking when travelling in hazardeous countries. I was scared in Costa Rica, I was scared in Red Sea, I was scared in Martinique...
Cynde I wish everything is allright with you and familly. I understand how you may feel.
Time to say goodnight now. Over 01.00 AM. Need to go to bed. I bet I dream about earthquake...

We have felt the odd shake up here but very small in magnitude. I would be scared if there was anything more that what we had. Scary thing is, there is a Nuclear Power plant built over small fault line.

Mary~ I hope you are feeling better today. I'm really sorry that happened to you and I do hope you won't suffer any long-term ill-effects from the accident. You're just never the same after an accident! And I'm terribly sorry to hear the car had Texas plates! I hope you won't hold it against us Texans.

Cynde~ Hope everything is less shakey today down in your neck of the woods!
