Good morning.

We have Starbucks coffee for all this morning.

Well today will be the start of the new era for the webcams. I look forward to diving the new site.

I did a dive at the north end of the Eden property last Oct. We went to a mooring block to the North of the property in front of the old Sunset resort. Went down to 53 feet where I saw my first seahorse. I think a picture of that seahorse is on the Wannadive site. Another dive at that site was in a fairly strong current.

At that time there was no pier at Eden.

John

I don't think Jake went in the water to "pull the plug". I was watching the north and south cams for him and there was no activity.

I was going to check the archives on the south cam, but the server for all cams appears to be down right now.

Sorry folks. I had to come in to the data center and do a quick reboot of the webcam server. The server had other ideas, and wanted to do a thorough check on one of the archive disks that wasn't anticipated.

As a result, it's going to take a little while before the server is back up. Nothing's wrong, just have to wait it out.

(and I was hoping this would be a really quick visit to the data center!).

The yellow object looks like a lift or marker bag.

The pier at Eden is about mid beach and is very nice.

Hmm, could well be a lift bag Jake used to steady the camera while he removed the mounting bracket from the mooring block.

If he removed the mounting bracket from the mooring block, I hope he brought along a jackhammer -- that sucker's pretty well anchored at this point, what with all the critters living on it, the epoxy holding it to the mooring block, etc...

Actually, we're moving the mooring (finger crossed), otherwise a sledge and chisel go down to the mooring...

The lift bag was to bring the 200+ pounds of 6 pound weights used to secure the ReefCam cable in place.

ReefCam is now out and "drying out", much of the bracket has been brought up too (all but the part which is affixed to the mooring), the cable's out, and the weights are out. PVC pipe for the shallows stays because I can't dislodge the rocks holding it in place.

Check the ReefCam archives in about an hour to see the final shots from the ReefCam - I brought it back to life on-shore briefly to make sure the cable was still okay after being brought up (I'm uploading the captures from here on Bonaire because of what Dan did to the server, starting at 10:28am this morning ;-) )

Martine, nice surprise I shall miss seeing some of the cam fishes. But I think you can add additional fishes when the new cam is up
Denise, nice to see the mooring block with some of the inhibitants

Ruud is going to do two dives in Hawaii today (no, I'm not jealous, only green)

Barbara, he is at Honolulu. I just talked o him on the phone, just before he went diving. I hope he makes some nice dives.

Rob, he could go on very short notice and we already booked our vacation in Bonaire for september. No money for me to join Ruud clipart{sad} But I made a nice dive today in the Sloterplas, where we did encounter a very enormous pike (snoek in nederlands). In a car wreck of a mini, and the size of the pike was as big as the interior of this mini (never did see such a mega one...)

Barbara, I hope he does make some nice dives and hope that he don't make me to jealous...

Bob (sorry, for the previous Rob's... I think I need some coffee!! Making typo's and spelling names wrong.... ), diving in the netherlands is really great, especially in the Oosterschelde. But I like warm waters as well. But we can't visit the nice tropic waters every weekend and I'm really addicted to diving
