A day of good news. Martine, our newest semi-Deity and Jenni with a potential home buyer. Hopefully we'll get some good news on a home for the cams, too. :-):-):-)

Come on Jake you can tell us, we wouldn't tell anyone. Isn't that like saying, just between you and me in front of a camera crew.

Fingers, toes and eyes crossed.

It went well, they should be making a decision next week also. Our decision about moving to NC would then start.

fish fish I don't have to. I sure hope I won't have to go out and buy a tank for a long, long time.

I wanted to wish everyone a great weekend. I am going home soon and enjoy the nice weather and visit with my son for a little.

Rafa surprised me today by showing up in the office, didn't know a thing about his travel. One of his friends is getting marry and he is in the wedding - going back to PR on Sunday. And of course, he sure surprised the heck out of me.

Everyone - enjoy the weekend!!!! :-)

LOL Seb, I was thinking this morning, how in the heck they would be able to move the mooring block...can't drag it to it's new location, and then would they have to put Charlotte in a little plastic bag to get her there too? (thinking finding nemo here)...I am SO gullable!

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By seb schulherr (Extraordinary BonaireTalker - Post #1626) on Saturday, June 5, 2004 - 11:22 pm:     Edit PostPrint Post

Yeah, that would never work Cynde. What they're gonna do is tie a thread from the old block to the new camera site, and bait it with fish bits so she follows right along.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Jake Richter (Moderator - Post #4915) on Monday, June 7, 2004 - 8:56 am:     Edit PostPrint Post

Cynde,

You're gullible for listening to Seb...

The way mooring blocks are installed is that they are made on land, then dragged/dropped into the water at one of the dock/pier facilities and floated with a couple of very large lift bags, and then pulled by boat to where ever they will be used by the Marine Park Rangers. In fact, after the waves from Lenny, which moved our mooring block significantly, the Rangers help lift it and move it into its current position.

Because of the ReefCam mounting bracket having, over the last 4 years become a fixed part of the mooring block, we pretty much have to move the mooring block to move the ReefCam.

As to Charlotte, we believe she lives in the hole which goes through the middle of the mooring block. Assuming that we find a partner for the WebCams, we need to figure some way to get her into the hole and block both ends so that she will go along for the ride. However, we don't know if the Rangers will need to run a rope through that hole for the lifting process yet (I don't recall if they had used that hole or not for that).

Seriously.

Jake

OK, call me gullible to Seb's fabrications...I like the idea of a line from the old block to the new block with bait to lead Charlotte along, however, I'm afraid a tarpon or two might get her along the way....hmmm....maybe we better start a "Move Charlotte" campaign!

Hope the meeting goes well today Jake:-) We all have our fingers and toes virtually crossed:-)

You describing placing the mooring blocks, reminds me of a post of yours from the early days about replacing the mooring rope to the block...that was quite the discussion:-)
