Good morning every body,
No new thread opened yet ? So, let's go.
This is my last day of work, I thought this day would never happen, then I rest four days :o)
Don't forget to observe Mars tonight, the red planet has never been so close from Earth since 100 years.
Anyone joining for a coffee ?

Hi there to all,

As I'll visit Bonaire for the first time in the (very) near future I was scavenging the net for information. This is how I found the Webcam place and BonaireTalk.

I was reading your comments and looking at the nice pictures for the last few days, but today I thought it was time for my first contribution (it's slow at the office at the moment, already tryín' to get in that Caribbean tempo).

I wouldn't want you to miss these fish:

nose

Bye from Zappacat

Actually I am leaving on Monday! And I cant wait till then...

Thnx to the webcam and you guys i've seen my first 'virtual sunsets' on bonaire, and i'm very anxious to see the real stuff!

Just two more days at the office as this day is nearly over. I think I'll survive these 16 hours or 960 minutes with BonaireTalk.

I’ll wave at the camera, we plan to do a dive there! So watch me do the ‘dancing fool’ bit.

And yes it’s all about Frank Zappa and my cat. I’m convinced my cat is a reincarnation off this great man :-) And I got pictures to proof it!

Annie B,

some time ago a dutch navy vessel was saluted by another dutch navy vessel : some odd 10 "wrens" did the double barrel salute:-)
Was quit a riot in the parliament back then .

Mary , by the size and shape of the boat I guessed it was a navy boat, coastguard patrolling.
If you look at he ppicture in "large " you can see a big mounted gun thing on the back.

back to work, .....

Hi all,
Jean Paul picked me up at the airport and we are just returning from our astronomy club. We welcomed around 300 people, plus TV channel 2. Mars observing was absolutely amazing, and we connected a large telescope on a video projector and showed Mars on the building wall to the People. Mars should clearly appear on the south cam at the end of the night. Jake, will you try to make some pics ? This is the moment, such a brilliant Mars will happen again in about 5000 years :o)
I think the boat is the coast guard which regularly visits Bonaire.
I am so excited, I do not feel sleepy. Is there still anybody lurking ?

Hi Martine,

We went out this morning about 6 am, and walked around the cul-de-sac looking in all directions, but couldn't see anything in Central Florida. It was so hazy we couldn't even see stars anywhere. I guess I'll just have to rely on the newspaper!

Yes Annie, I am still there. Cynde, just fix your telescope tonight, you won't regret it. We could so easily see the " Y " shape ( Sirtis Major ) and the south pole. Just watch South-East, but you can't miss it, it is sooo bright. It will remain brilliant quite a few days Gail, so you may see it tomorrow, but today it is at its closest point from Earth.
Definitely don't feel sleepy.

I don't know exactly Annie, I am not on Bonaire, but Mars is better visible from the lower latitudes ( lucky Jake ) because it is higher in the sky, nearly at the vertical ? I think it should be visible on the cam when it sinks on the western side, around 3 or 4 AM Bonaire time. This is my feeling.
