2005- Viansa Anatra Rosso- Sonoma ($11.99) A huge red that would go excellent with any red meats. Massive licorice in this vino. However, I had it tonight with Chicken Scarpariello, along with tomato, buffalo mozarella, fresh basil, EV olive oil, and balsamic (Caprese)

2008- Maipe Bonarda- Mendoza-Argentina-($10.99- Chairman's Selection PA LCB) Something like a Malbec, but a bit earthier. I really liked it a lot. Maipe also does a Malbec that is very good for the price.

Sorry for all the editing. Sometimes I type faster than I think, especially after a 14.5% vino. By the way, Viansa is a great winery, that looks more like a Tuscan winery than Carneros. They are starting to really make their mark in Sonoma. Good people as well. Kathi and I were there in 2005 and 2007.

Sorry to run this thread. The PA Liquor Control Board governs all spirits that can be purchased in The People's Republic of Pennsylvania. For years, the great Commonwealth was losing millions of dollars in revenue, as people would go to Jersey, Delaware, NY, MD, West VA or Ohio, depending on where you lived. About 8 years ago, the Chairman got hip and really remade the entire system. Since PA is the largest purchaser of wines in the United States, the Chairman puts out selections every month. It has been fantastic for us, as we get really good deals, because the state buys in such volume.

Old people tend to do that. I don't know why, but they do. I seem to remember, no, I don't. Did I ever tell you the story about my O-ring?
