Fascinating evaluation.

One thing that popped out was that the Habitat reef was relatively clear of algae on the coral and the corals were vibrant and healthy. In contrast the reefs both to the north and south exhibited more algae dusting of the coral heads as did several other sites.

A new theory is that pollution has a significent LOCAL effect. This would explain why Habitat, which installed a treatment plant, has a better looking reef than its neighbors.

Other data also supports this lOCAL EFFECT theory. Caution: It is currently just a theory or model of what is happening. More work would be needed. Anybody on Bonaire want to do a bunch of work please email me.
