Please take a moment to view Sean Paton's latest film effort to educate the people as to what is occurring, what needs to be addressed and his endless efforts to shake the reality of it all into the officials of Bonaire and Holland. Frustrating is not a word that can adequately describe how we all feel seeing and knowing this type of activity continues to occur on island without check. Please take a moment to watch and listen.....Thank you Sean & Heinrik!!

Thanks, and well done.
BUT
The future of Bonaire will never resemble its past.
I am not saying it should be; I have no say other than as a visitor.
I want Bonaire to be as it was on my first visit ten years ago.
That is not going to happen.
The money to be made will trump any and all environmental concerns.
That seems to be what has happened over the last several years.
I will email to the addresses provided, but expect no change.
Other thoughts, please.

I understand where you are coming from and what you have said, Grunt. It is very frustrating to see something we love change so quickly. Change is inevitable but it needs to be done at a slow & steady pace with precautions and knowledge as to the impact involved. Nothing remains the same but to develop solely for the purpose (IMHO) of profit is not the way to progress into the future. We shall see. Only time will tell. Voices do need to be heard..often and loudly...in order to attempt to proceed forward in a safe and proper (& legal) way. Studies (Impact Studies) should be performed if/when protected land and/or creatures are involved in the area(s) in question. Thanks for viewing the film and for your comments. I know you care about Bonaire, as do I. Thanks, Grunt!

Thanks Carole..
Anyone have any thoughts how the recent election results in Holland this week will affect Bonaire?

Vince, like the English elections, no one is sure what the Holland elections will mean for Holland yet. It shows the country is deeply divided and reaching a crisis point with immigration. If I had to guess, solely PIOOMA, the election has little impact if any. The impact will be made through the local integration team and the transition team(s) that have already begun.

Vince.

From what I understand, the election has produced an even more fragmented Government than usual. The Netherlands have never had one party with an overall majority since WW2 but this years it seems to be a real mix.

As far as Bonaire is concerned, the major point in my opinion is that Geert Wilders of the Freedom Party has doubled his vote, albeit only to 15% of the total number.

However, he is now in third place and as a result, is demanding a place within the coalition. Geert Wilders is famously anti-immigration & anti-Muslim. He has made it clear in the past that he would not tolerate the current influx of people from the Antillies who, are responsible for many crimes in the Netherlands. In addition, he has also said that he would cut the Antillies loose and even said: "I would gift-wrap the Netherland Antillies for Hugo Chavez as it should be part of Venezuela".

How much power the PPV will have under a new coalition is uncertain but the Netherlands has problems with their economy, immigration and anti-social behaviour & some voters like the solutions that Wilders has to these problems.

When times are hard, charity often goes out of the window.

Anthony

You've given one more reason to hope that nothing derails integration prior to 10/10/10
