A captain's license is required for any commercial use of a boat. As soon as you get paying passengers on board, it becomes necessary. You should check with the Harbor Master for general boating rules like having so much water on board. And check with your insurance company for additional requirements for carrying passengers.

Don't know any off hand. Employing a captain might best be done at a bar over a beer or talking with the local fishermen. You might try advertizing in Extra, the local paper. They are a number of requirements for job advertisements that must be filled before you can hire someone that would require a work permit.

Linda, maybe you can help. I was just told on my e-mail address by three seperate people you do NOT need a Capt. license to take people for hire.
I know this is true on Aruba, I have a difference of facts here, can you direct me to the right Govt office.
