I have had two organ transplants and other health issues over the years. I travel with a LARGE number of medications including pain meds. Will a general letter from a US doctor assist in clearing customs in Bonaire, Miami, etc.? We have been ther twice and were never searched, but who knows. Any advice on keeping meds safe while out of the room? Thanks.

Usually it is only narcotic medications that customs gets concerned about. We've always been told to keep the medication in the original prescription bottle. It has all the doctors info that way. I think a letter from your doctor describing briefly your medical condition and needs would be a super idea. It should probably include a list of your current meds. If you do lose any or have a medical emergency, you can get replacements or help more efficiently.

While in your room, use the room safe. If you have more than would fit in the safe, I would keep a day or twos worth in the room safe and ask the hotel to put the rest in their main safe.
