Goats.

When the grass (weeds) gets over a foot tall, they usually use machettes, sythes (not spelling that right) and weed wackers to trim it down. Most people don't have lawns, mainly just some hotels and not all do. There are a couple real lawn mowers around.

the papiamentu word "chopi" is what we call the tool and the action. it is a back breaking job to chopi ones hofi (garden)

I would not think that Papiamentu had developed a
word for what we call a 'lawn'. Not a 'natural'
occurrence on the islands, is it??

geez but i bet our neighbors would just love the goats;-)

not...

don't suppose we have a real talent for creating work for ourselves up here in o HI o....

but the flowers are nice...

whatever,

ps - could have used a chopi for cutting back the daffodils...splattered them all over the side of the house with a mower instead...more work...

Actually, at our place, the equivalent of mowing the lawn is raking the rocks into shape :-)
