Would someone please tell me what the new mailing information is? Did Bonaire get a zip code? Do we just swap out Netherlands Antilles and insert Dutch Caribbean?

Thanks for your time with this matter.

Hi Jeanine,

No, no zip codes yet (there IS a God!) And yes, to avoid our mail, FedExs, etc. from going to Europe first, our official name for the BES islands is now Dutch Caribbean. So, Bonaire, Dutch Caribbean should do it for now.

I've been told that our (599) country code will most likely stay in place for (perhaps) the next five years, so no change there yet, either.

If there's a drop-down menu choice, (like the Fedex website has), you'd still choose Netherlands Antilles, because there is no other choice (yet). There are still going to be many websites that will continue to list Netherlands Antilles in their menus. Not quite sure how a new "nation" sends a memo to every shipping company in the world that our name has changed. Seems like it took the USPS 20 years just to get Netherlands Antilles right (I'm not optimistic that "Nederlands Caribisch" will catch on anytime soon)! For practical reasons, "Netherlands Antilles" will probably remain in most databases for awhile, and as you mentioned, add "Dutch Caribbean" wherever possible.

Hey Jeanine, funny thing also is that the IRS now requires you include a zip code when reporting rental income on a schedule E, no can do for Bonaire....

Zip codes are only good for addresses in the US.
Country codes outside the US.
Numbers are in reference to distibution location.
So putting Southern Dutch Carribean should direct the mail away from Puerto Rico where mail for other islands go, I think that is where alot of the mail might be missed directed.
I am wondering too, if Bonaire's mail will be going thru Curacoa, as it did, or another direction now.
