Scott, I know of someone who is looking to sell units there--I think most of them are Christmas week and New Years. I'm sure he can also give you a very good perspective on owning there, as he's owned for about 20 years. If you're interested, send me an email at susan@nettechnv.com.

Scott,

I have only owned at Buddy's (the old Lions Den) for 4 years, but it has been a most pleasurable experience.

If you are looking for rooms on the caliber of a Hilton or Hyatt, Buddy's is not your deal. They are still nice, and suit me just fine though.

I got mine through a timeshare resale company. I put my name on the waiting list with several different ones, and told them EXACTLY where I wanted to buy.

Took about 7 months, but one came through. A 2 BR 2 BTH, and I got it dirt, dirt cheap. A divorce situation, and they needed the cash.

I had stayed there before, and knew the quality of the rooms. Do the math? If you plan on revisiting Bonaire time and again, compare the maintenance fees to regular room costs

Scott -

There are not a lot of timeshares on Bonaire. I think that all of them, or nearly all of them are at either the resort that used to be known as Lions Dive, which is now part of the Buddy Dive Resort, or at the Divi Flamingo. There is not a big resale market on Bonaire, so you might try asking around at the Divi or Buddy Dive resorts when you stay there, or using a resale company, like Tad did. Since there isn't an active exchange market, I think you can often pick weeks up for a good price if you are selective and patient. Just make sure you understand all of the ongoing maintenance fess for your week(s) and what ALL of the purchase and closing costs are. You also want to make sure that the ownership rights are REALLY being transferred to you at the time of sale. A reputable resale broker and/or a call to the resort itself can help. Maybe Tad will help you out as well.
