I am looking for somebody here on the island with the knowledge and contacts to help me with solar water heating. We are looking for a total solution. Does anybody know who would be able to do this here on Bonaire?

Try the people at Perla (small resort across from Sand Dollar). Their entire hot water system is solar, contact person is Roy Celestijn, roy@perlaboneriano.com. We have solar hot water in KFC, but did it through Kooyman Techniek in Curacao-we're satisfied, but it's not a "total" solution like Perla could do.

Michael.

Mini Kroon has a solar business on the island and has supplied and fitted many systems.

If you P.M. me your Email address, I will forward it to Mini. Alternatively, you can contact her through Rento-Fun Drive on Kaya Grande.

Thanks for all your help. I started my tour now. Do any of you have experience with solar water heating? Does it work well and deliver warm water 24/7?

Michael, we do not live on Bonaire but have solar water heating in our home in California.

To answer your question, yes, it works very well here and delivers VERY hot water! I would suspect that it would work as well in Bonaire provided the system used to store and deliver the water is in proper working condition and installed and maintained well. We have HOT water 24/7.

Much of Israel uses solar water heating. In 1979 we saw the tanks on the roofs as we toured. We were told is was very effective.

At one time, Bonaire's water/electric company would not service any location using solar water heating. I gather that has changed????

This has not changed. They have said it will, but nothing has been determined as to when.
