We are coming to Bonaire 1/24/09 for 3 weeks (whoopie) and thought it might be good to do some kind of volunteer work. Does anybody have any ideas? I have built 2 houses and have a good understanding of building and electrical and my wife is an RN. Even if its helping somebody out for a few polars.......cheers

Hi Chris, you may be able to help at the Donkey sanctuary. I'm not to sure how advanced the plans are for the move, check this thread out

Good suggestion Roy, yes please help at the Donkey Sanctuary, I'm sure Marina could use it. One of the best things you could do is get the lady (Marina) a day off.

Chris, what a wonderful thought. You might also contact the Hoppner Boys Home, or the Animal Shelter.

You can go to the NGO Platform, they have information on more then 100 foundations on Bonaire! The office is above the Botica (farmacy) in Kaya Grandi.

The Bonaire Anmal Shelter welcomes volunteers to "socialize" i.e. pet the animals. I visit to pet the kitties several times a week when I visit... Beware, though, you might fall in love and have to take someone home with you... The two kittens I adopted and brought home four years ago are a constant joy!!
