In the Netherlands and surrounding countries it is USD 6,25 per US gallon. So compared to most of europe gas prices on Bonaire are pretty reasonable.

Still $1.99 in south western Pennsylvania. Must be the gas taxes here, high compared to some neighboring states.

These rapid gasoline price fluctuations really make one wonder about the legitimacy of the pricing in the first place. QUESTION - How about Europe? I seem to recall a recent conversation that they have not seen nearly the drop in prices that have occurred in the US. Does anyone have info?

Dan, have you ever heard of Socialized Medical Care?
|
By Trevor Hibdige, Lac Bay Villa (Experienced BonaireTalker - Post #121) on Saturday, December 6, 2008 - 5:26 am: |
In UK there is a greater tax on diesel as a transport fuel and the price of gasoline and diesel went up together. Although unleaded has dropped back to its former levels, diesel has remained 12p per litre more. That equates to 0.69 US cents per US gallon more expensive for diesel than unleaded. This way the oil companies can claim in their PR that gasoline prices have been reduced and they can still make obscene profits until the Monopolies Commission investigates.

Ron - I am in health care and have worked extensively with health care folks around the world and in Europe in particular. I am all too well acquainted with Socialized Medical Care. That concept is what drives their higher petrol costs with less market variation I am sure.
