For those that need a web cam fix like me, the cams are active on www.breathebonaire.com. Not the same as the BT web cams but a good substitute until Jake has time to fix ours,

Our prayers go out to all on Bonaire and all Bonaire lovers, hope everything gets repaired soon so the locals can get on with the business of life.

Andy & Dave Bartlett

Andy and Dave - I just heard that web cam at www.breathebonaire.com has been frozen and neglected since 4/8/08. Still a nice pic however.

Dan is correct, it has been frozen since 8/4/08 (not 4/8/08).

That's amazing: two posters use 8/4/08 and 4/8/08 and neither seems aware that such a date is globally ambiguous. Do you mean April or August? Americans (yes, I'm one) think mo/day/year is universal; the rest of the world does not agree. Since I don't know where Dan and BC are from, I can't even use that info to decipher the messages.

I suggest, on BT, that dates use the name of the month and not the number of the month. So the date above would be given as Aug 4, 2008, or is that 8 April 2008?

Even more fun since their BT profiles show that both posters are from the US.

And the date as written on that site is '2008-08-04' :–)

Good idea Mel, That gets confused all the time. I now make it a habit when communicating to folks on island to spell out the month.

Sort of like, I'm on the third floor. Now is that the third floor the way Americans count or the second floor the way Europeans count (since they count ground floor as #1)??
Why does everything have to be so confusing :-)

Good lord Mel and Glen...I HAD NOT HAD MY COFFEE!!! lol! What I meant was, is that the date on the breathitcams is the Euro (or rest of the world way I guess)...WHICH I was trying to say to us in the U.S., it would be 8/4/08, or, August 4, 2008.

I only deduce this I remember it froze in August, NOT April....

Good lord, I hope I said that right...I THINK you know what I mean?

I need to go burn a smudge stick...;-)

The other cams on the same website have as a date 2008-10-28.
That might lead you to the right conclusion :-)

You are right - that date thing on the Breathebonaire.com web cam is confusing. I posted some comment about that site and got a message back from Ron Gould on BT that those cams had been frozen since 4/8/08 so that is where the reference originated. The cam image says 2008-08-04 which would mean Aug 4, 2008 to me. Like you date configurations can be confusing. I have worked and traveled out of the US quite a lot for many years. Except when communicating in the US manner I will use dates like 29.10.2008 of 29 Oct 2008 to reference today's date. None the less I wish we had the pier reef cam and the others up and running again.
