My wife and I will be in Bonaire for the first time from the Sept. 20th-27th staying at Den Laman. We will be bringing some tequila and Cointreau to make margaritas and I would like to know if it is easy to get fresh limes on the island? I know you can bring fruits and vegetables and am wondering if I should just bring a bunch of limes.

And, if the Bonairean Customs rules are the same as the US.....a lime is a seeded fruit and against the rules. We used to live on the US/Mexico border and I had friends (I would never break a rule...that's just wrong) who would schmuggle these excellent mexican limes all the time. They are, illegal, under US (and probably Bonairean) agricultural import rules. If you want good fresh limes (spanish is limon...leeeemoan) walk down the waterfront from Den Laman to the Venezuelan produce market (impossible to miss during the daytime) and they'll most likely have fresh ones.

Okay, thanks, appreciate the help. Will leave the limes at home and get some in Bonaire.

BTW Joe, I found this document from Den Laman that states there are no customs limitation on bringing fruits and vegetables.

Man, we have many limes but finding a juicy one is hard sometimes. I do well at La Portuguesa on Nikiboko Zuid.
