We arrive on Saturday April 26th. Will there be stores closing on days in addition to Wednesday April 30? I remember mention of long weekends due to the holiday falling in the middle of the week. I want to be able to plan ahead as much as possible--can't run out of beer.

We have been going to Bonaire at the same time every year for the past ?? years. We are always prepared for the shops/supermarkets being closed for these holidays. The restaurants are, for the most part, open. We may be on the same flight as you Grunt. The Continental out of Houston? Hope they are serving coffee in the morning now. The past 2 years we've flown this route, they have only had water & O.J. My tired old body needs the caffeine jolt in the morning.

There will be three days of closings...Queens Birthday, Labor Day and Ascension Day. BE PREPARED. It will not effect the resorts but most of the retail stores are closed in town..

I was wondering what they'd do--May 1, normally our Labor Day, is Ascension Thursday this year, which is also a legal holiday and the day when many children receive their First Communion. This holiday falls on different Thursdays each year because it depends on when Easter falls (it's 40 days after Easter Sunday). So that's gonna be one long holiday weekend, with many stores closed till Saturday the 3rd (from 4/30). Sand Dollar Grocery will probably be open those holiday days (Michael, confirm?) because that's a tourist-related store (tourist related businesses are allowed to stay open on legal holidays, like dive shops, car rentals, restaurants, etc.-so diving, driving, drinking & eating can continue).

Yikes, Labor Day has been moved to Friday the 2nd? Will Washington-Slagbaai Park be closed? That was going to be my last-day-on-the-island-no-diving adventure! :-( Can anyone there comment on that closing?

By the way, Gail and Grunt, I'll be on your flight too, but waaaaaay in the back in the cheap seats - 21F. :-)

Yippee! First trip to Bonaire, less than a week away!
