I've noticed this really bright light at sea in many night cam shots. Is a fishing boat? Is it one of those fishing boats from Spain?

Might it be light out on Klein Bonaire, maybe? It's very bright...the one you have captured in the pic.

Anyone out there know for sure? cb

Klein is over the other way. Not in the Yellow Sub cam. I've noticed this light many times. (sailor here) It moves around, but not a lot, often there.

When I was last on Bonaire, the fishermen were having fits because the Government had sold fishing rights to Spain, of all things. Seems the Spanish have fished out their waters and were looking for a place in the Caribbean for their fleet. No fish left in the Atlantic near Spain...

Could be a freighter light from the salt pier when it is loading salt? Or a mast light as Jerry said.

Hmmm, the next shot from the cam has a little hot rod speed boat at the dock, with a very bright light, like car headlight. That might have been pointing at the cam for that bright light.

This was in 2003, I believe. Does the Reporter have archives? I was there when there were meetings and a 'protest parade' But the decision was made in Curacao.

No wonder Cap't Don went to so much trouble to bring home his foot!

I live on St Croix, US Virgins, and we have the same problem with the Gov't being based on St Thomas. Unwanted step child sort of thing. St Thomas just made gill nets legal here, boooo, after a ban for a few years.

Mm

Right, there was that news in the past - had completely forgotten ! That was at the time a decison of the central government without consulting Bonaire or one of the other islands.
Will ask around further, but I don't think it was ever allowed again.

Could it be an oil tanker waiting out at sea? Have seen them over the years off shore waiting to dock at the tanks up north.

Well, I will be at LBR in a few weeks and will see what's out there. I know I have seen bright lights from the Salt Pier area shining brightly from the beach at LBR. I think it is from there.

We always see a bright light "out there" at night from the Black Durgon. We're speculated oiler, trawler, etc, but never had a definitive answer. I guess we should have asked Al!
