Does anyone know what documents you need to open up an account at the MCB (spelling?) bank or any Bonaire bank?
Do people use checks from their bank back home on the island?
When we opened our MCB (Maduro and Curiel's Bank is much cuter) we turned up with our passports and filled in lots of bits of paper and then had to provide a reference from our UK bank as part of the Money Laundering precautions that are in place.
Rather than use cheques from our bank back home on the island, we transfer funds from bank to bank before we go then we have the convenience of a local cash card for purchases rather than the uncontrol-able credit card.....
If you are non resident I think you can only get a US$ account rather than a NAF account but you had better ask around to confirm that one.....

In a FEW places they will accept non local personal cheques but the charges to accept them is pretty steep. Between Nafl 10 to 25. If you cash a cheque at the bank it will take up to 10 working days to get your money. Hope this helps ?
