Keeping up with the news has been my main incentive to learn Dutch. If you are a tourist, my advice is to relax and not worry about the news. If you are a new resident, my advice to is learn to read Papiamentu or Dutch.

And, of course, through Internet you can find all kinds of resources for all the news. In dutch there are on-line newspapers, will probably be also in American. And you can watch several American channels on the TV. CNN, BBC-America, NBC, a.s.o.

OK let's be clear that we are news starved Canadians. I can get lots online - just wondered what was available locally. Thanks for all the comments. Still loving it here -but vacation will end all too soon.

I am sorry to have discriminated against Canadians. Actually, I would rather read about their politics than US at times...As for answering questions, I am pretty annal about finding answers...does any one know the origin of the term "on the Fritz" No fair looking it up on Google.

Michael, when I was a kid my mom would say this all the time and it drove me crazy! I remember asking her who the heck Fritz was and she told me it was a cartoon character who always did mischevious things. I'm not sure if this is the right answer but I believed her!

Ok, are you testing to see who watches Jeopardy? It was a clue recently. It's from the cartoon the Katzenjammer Kids (sp?), one of whom was named Fritz. Apparently, Fritz's things didn't always work right, and this turned into them saying, '_____ is on the fritz,'...for something not working. Alex (Trebek, the Canadian, explained this). Which brings us back on topic.
