I read about the new Medical school in The Reporter. Sounds like a win/win solution. Have any thoughts about this.

I think it's great that they're here. What could be better for the restaurant & snack industry than hungry students studying & getting stressed out & getting the munchies....? ;-)

My thoughts too. Maybe they can be an example for the youth of Bonaire . I know there is a medical school in Grenada. How does that work out for the locals. It has to be benifical to the people living there, having people come and study for a period of time, maybe voluntering at the hospital or medical center.I was happy to hear about that.

The Saba School of Medicine on our sister island in the North has had mixed reviews re the economy. Many of the students are housed off campus and it has created a higher price of rentals and also many of the businesses that cater to the students tend to have slightly higher prices. All in all, it is just a few students so far and it remains to be seen what impact it will have. The Daily KLM Quito flights should have a much larger (positive) impact since their passengers will be using our income producing infrastructure as oppossed to enrolling kids in the schools, etc. Please don't misunderstand me..I am in favour of the school, espicially since it will admit Antilleans. I just want to be assured that it puts back as much as it takes!

It seems to me that should always be the concern of any new business adventure on the island. Hope things work out in a positive way. Thanks for the info Michael.

Oh, and I forgot the most important part before Michael got all serious on us....the guys are really, really cute! (of course I wouldn't expect M.G. to notice that!) ;-)

Personally, I hope it improves healthcare on Bonaire. While visiting the hospital a few years ago, I was not happy with what I saw. I have been told that things have improved, and that the hospital is much cleaner than it use to be. I was really impressed two weeks ago with the dental care by Dr. Mimi. Her office was spotless with very up-to-date equipment, and she was friendly, helpful and well educated. I think the Medical School can only be a positive.

Re MD. These are all Pre Pre med students who are just at the very beginning of their education. Of course there will be many instuctors that could help with the docotor availability. Ruth, I did notice a few cute students....female....and will keep my eyes open for more. ie healthcare on Bonaire: I did have the occasion a few months ago to use the emergency medical system here and can say that I had only the most positive experience and hifgest praise for the medical care and the hospital. It has greatly improved since my first experience 7 years ago.

Ditto that Michael...Jan and I are alive and well today, many thanks and praise to our GP Dr. Lont, the hospital and staff both here and St. Elisabeth in Curacao. Any who knows us know that the local insurance company was debating whether or not to create another level of service named just for us...
