What is the new departure tax per adult and per child? Is it of benefit to pay it in guilders? I read that it is ok to prepay. Is the tax collection booth open set hours or just around the time of airline departures? Thanks

From the Bonaire International Airport site listed at the bottom. The advantages to prepaying while waiting on your luggage is they are open and it is one less thing to think about on departure day.

Increase of the Passenger Facility Charge as of January 1, 2007 22-12-2006

The Island Council of Bonaire decided on December 18, 2006, to increase the Passenger Facility Charge (PFC) for international destinations from Flamingo Airport Bonaire. Effective January 1, 2007 this charge will amount to ANG 57.60 or USD 32.00.

Consistent with current procedures, Bonaire International Airport N.V. will collect the PFC at the airport tax booth.

A decision was also made to reduce the tariff to ANG 5.00 (USD 3.00) for destinations to CuraƧao, Saint Martin, Saint Eustatius, Saba and Aruba for passengers who are residents of the islands and who are younger than 13 years or have reached the retiring age of 60 years. To be eligible for the reduced tariff, passengers need to identify themselves with their identity card or sedula (for children who do not have an identity card: a birth-certificate) at the airport tax sales-booth at the airport.
For passengers of 13 years up to inclusive 59 years the tariff remains ANG 10.00 (USD 6.00) for local destinations.

Swanee, I would encourage you to prepay before your departure day. They also take plastic now as well. The Sunday early morning we left, when we arrived at the airport at 5AM, there was a KLM, Continental, and AE flight all leaving early and there were at least 50 people in line to pay their departure tax!

No benefit in paying guilders unless you have some you need to dispose of before leaving the island:-)
