Hello! I'm student from Ukraine, I've got a task to complete asap. I need to write an essay with the headline "Bonaire: it is lie and complete deceit".
What am I supposed to write????? Do you have ANY suggestions?
Please, Please, Please help!

I can not imagine why you would be assigned such a task, and don't see what could be said here on this site to help you. It seems to just be the start of a thread for negativity. I suggest that if anybody wants to help that it be done by email instead of here on this site. Just my "two cents", a phrase I've seen elsewhere on BT that seems pretty applicable here to me :-)

As a professor, let me assure you that chat boards are not considered research for most types of papers. Since you did not post the parameters of your assignment, I can only offer vague suggestions. First and foremost, you should explore the newspapers and journals for information. There are some great on-line resources. Try www.ipl.org and use their newspaper reading room. You may also want to visit http://www.state.gov/r/pa/ei/bgn/ and https://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/index.html for background information. However, be sure to note in your assignment that these are US government websites. As always, be sure to use proper citations.

Denise...this could actually be a great way to disprove all of the negativity. That could be the lies and deceit! :-)

I have a kind of crazy teacher, you know.
The problem is that there is no specifics in the task.

In ukrianian language Bonaire is written the same as Boneir or Bonair. So it could be about the wine or even a Turkish aircraft company (Bon Air).

But I thought maybe something extraordinary had happened on the island, so decided to ask you)

In any case i'm sure to write something about the island. So i keep on investigating through forum messages for the clues to lug them into my topic.

Thnx for reply

easy enough,

need to start with a "theory" and then provide information that supports (or does not support) the theory.

bonaire = diver's paradise - that would seem to be the most common characterization of bonaire. is this true or not? i believe research of the popular scuba diving magazines and comments extracted from this newsgroup would be sufficient to make a judgement.

my personal opinion is that it is true, bonaire is diver's paradise...

we'd love to see your essay posted when you finish;)

Is this REALLY what they are teaching in academia these days for creative writing assignments? Sounds a bit strange to me.

Bob, that's a great idea, thnx!

But now I'm processing the neighbourhood threadline of "The Local Items" about "Curacao rejects new status, Bonaire future status unknown".

I'm representing the situation around Bonaire in this connection as a farce. It more or less fits my headline.
As i understand there was a referendum in 2005 and Bonaire along with Saba and St. Estatius islands decided to become direct parts of Netherlands and Curacao with St. Martin to separate. But as Council in Willemstad doesn't want to ratify the agreement the process becomes tardy and it is hard to say when the will of the people would be implemented.
So i call a violation of people's choiсe as some kind of lie or deceit.

Is this true or do i exaggerate?
Does anyone cares about this politics or it doesn't influence much upon life (because there are troubles in economy)?

It turned out that my teacher visited Bonaire few weeks ago, so that was really about Bonaire island.)))

That was fast work Kostjantyn. Less than 24 hours to figure out your topic, do your research, write your paper, get it turned in and graded - MAN - I wish I had projects that went that fast. Good job.

I believe you found what your professor wanted.
I think the Curacao political situation would raise the ire of any good Ukrainian professor.

I begin to think why not visit Bonaire by myself?
Although it is a faraway island for me, I'll do my best to make a voyage within next year. Moreover our travel operators do propose tours to Bonaire.
And I'll bring much vodka)

Can't help being a concerned parent here. Be careful with the amount of Vodka you drink in Bonaire!! It gets pretty hot and you want your mind clear when enjoying everything Bonaire has to offer when you get in the beautiful water! There's nothing like it!! Also, if you are on a boat, the banging of the boat on waves will split your head open if you have a hangover!!! Enough said by me! Just want you to truly enjoy yourself safely with everything Bonaire has to offer.
