What do the local Bonaire banks charge for ATM transactions? I know my US bank will charge $1.50 per withdrawl. How much is added for the Bonaire bank?

If you make a withdrawal at the same bank as your card is from, you will be charged NAf. 0.50.
When making a withdrawal at the ATM of another bank, you'll be charged NAf. 2.00.

With my dutch card they charge €0.00 for a withdrawal in the Eurocountries, and €2.25 for a withdrawal at a bank on Bonaire. Not important which brand of bank it is.

These are all withdrawals with a normal debit-card. When you do so with a creditcard, it is a enormous lot more. I don't know how much. I did it once, and never again.

So your US$ 1.50 is cheap compared to the €2.25 for european cards.
Local withdrawals are cheaper then international, of course.
Enough information?

Carl,

I use my U.S. ATM card on Bonaire regularly. My bank in the U.S. doesn't charge a fee for using the ATM card in a "foreign" (anything other than my bank) ATM, and none of the ATMs I have tried on Bonaire add a surcharge either (and I've used MCB, RBTT, and Banco di Caribe's ATMs). So, that would imply you'd only be charged the $1.50 by your own bank.

Jake

we got money out when we first got there. Then we found we ended up using our debit cards everywhere just about except for small purchases like bottles of water at Lisa Gas. that way we didn't have to mess with all the fees.
