While this hot dog stand is not that old, it has helped clean up the obvious broken windows at Karpata. Normally you see a lot (and I mean a lot) of glass at Karpata where windows have been broken. Since Junior opened his stand this seems to have almost disappeared. We stopped and had a coke and dog, they were good. Cost is also good (pop, water and dogs from 2 to 4 gilders which is a good deal, and it comes with a bit of security and real bathrooms (well a bit rustic but better than a tree). He opens 6 days a week, 10 to 5 (island time so don't shot the messenger). Think about taking a couple of bucks along to support Junior..he takes wet money, since it will dry out. We also saw quite a few drive bys by the Marine Park people, so maybe they are trying to curb the betty theft as well.

And Kelly - if it's the right time of day he also has some nice cold beer too.

That's really good news.. I vote that we all try & make it a point to patronize junior's business. Nothing like an ice cold beer after breathing super dehydrated air for 60 mins!

Does anyone know if there are any plans for restoration of the buildings across the street from the dive site at Karpata?

Was just at Karpata the other day, not a sign of any broken glass, what a welcome site that is! The hot dog stand was closed when we arrived early morning, so didn't get a chance to enjoy it, maybe later this trip we will get that way again.

I guess I don't get it.....

We have passed by and/or dove karpata at least half a dozen times in the last ten days, and the "stand" has never been opened.

Dave.

Maybe they are on vacation? We plan on trying the north again later this week, so will let you know the status then...Maybe it is a week-end only? Does anyone know the schedule of this stand?

I just realized that is a silly question. I know the answer, Island Time! No, seriously, I believe he has a regular job as well and this is part time, so may not be able to have a permanent schedule.

I love Junior's hotdogs! And he has done more than just lower the crime, he has pulled people out of the water as well when they have gotten into trouble. I still don't know why people try to go in/out on top of the cement slab. Nor why anyone tries to exit with their fins on...but they do and some very lucky people have had Junior to help them.
