Check the number of billing days--sometimes it's as low as 29, or as high as 33--and that can make a seemingly big difference in the amount. Or, they've adjusted the "brandshoftclausual" (sp?) up from the previous .2478.... (think that was the bc factor, don't have a bill in front of me right now)

Granted in the states our water and electric is not as high for those living on Bonaire, however our electric bill has doubled. $90 last month, no airco, and there is just 2 of us. Our water bill runs about $500 per year.

Checked my bills (betw house, biz, ofc = 3 water & 3 elect)--all have either 32 or 33 days in the billing period (the ones with the oct 14 due date). For me, this is a big difference if the last billing period was only 29 days. The brandstofclausule is the same .2478...blahblahblah, so that's not the reason for an increase. Writing a 5 figure cheque to WEB seems usual by now. Ugh.

Ruth.
This billing system is very interesting.

If on some months, the billing period can be as long as 33 days, that will be enough for some people to go from one water price tariff to another which with businesses can make a difference.

On a few occasions, WEB omitted to send me a bill. When I did receive one it was for a two month period. As they did not treat it as two separate bills, my water charge was much higher as a combination than it would be for two separate charges.

It took me about 20 minutes to explain this but they eventually conceded.

Tony............

"System?" That implies logic.......
;-)

It's especially hard on the working class-average family here--big bills are due right in the middle of school vacation/regatta week.

Just got the new bill handed to me, and it is 1300 guilders less than last month ... of course, it covered the first half of September which is the lowest occupancy season of the year. Still, at least it doesn't go up *every* month. Just 11 out of 12.
